Cod 4 key code in use

@StinkO is getting the key code in use in cod4 error. Does anyone have a fix for this?  It’s been happening for over a day now

Kill the punkbuster process a and b if only 1 is there just kill that one then start game and try to join   when my pc would crash or game crash i would have to do this so i can get back in

It's either server side, or someone else is using it.

Try joining different servers & see if the issue persists to parse the reason.

I own 2 key codes and I tried the other one and same thing. Ive tried other servers and got a couple different things one said Key code in use and some of the others I got in and it starts to download all of their maps and crap so I abort. Ill try killing the service tomorrow and see. I only play from work computer.

yes if have another game key on your network is another issue, like other say they got  your key # or Activison server

other is check your firewall,  the allow through.... only have one for COD4 in there

Correction- I’m not getting Key code in use when I try to connect to XI servers I’m getting a 10 sec timeout with Awaiting key code authorization

Ahh, the problem is now clear: You've an Idi0t!

Perhaps you have antivirus blocking it...my only guess.

Make sure it's white listed on your machine.

Hello!

It sounds you are running PB ON in your game. Try this:

Deactivate Punkbuster in the game, then close game and restart the game, then make a new search of servers. Then try get into one of them.

If that works nothing else than after ENABLE the PB ON again in your game and close game and restart again the game and try again,must be works fine.

 

If that donst works, try this:

Go control panel, and from there look for programs installed,. Then Uninstall Punkbuster and Punkbuster services.

Restart the pc. Try then install again the PB from the disk or better from any website that have the latest patch for punkbuster.

Then start the game, and try get a list of servers fresh, then try join one of them, that must solve the problem.

 

Last Solution: Look if you are running the latest patch and files from cod4x and versions. If you are running that versions, you will have to reinstall the latest patch and

files version for that one.

That is all you can try to solve the problem.

 

Otherwise, be sure you are not running a "hung" version of game. Sometimes qhen you start cod4 and cod5 etc the game sometimes, gets hanged in a secondary process under the windows system.

Then you can look the ctrl+alt+del to bring up the process tab and look there if you see the game.exe running twice, if that is the case, is duplicated , if its duplicated kill both process and start the game as admin rights.

That must be solved the issue in any case.

When I was head Admin in the ACE mod server (many moons ago), this happened many times before... (just FYI)

Mw2 ftag is restarted with new maps every Friday morning  if that's any help.

Might be worth trying before and after that event to establish a significance

I think its because my work changed some firewall settings and blocked a bunch of apps that aren't secure.

reboot your modem as well as computer

Ask your neteng how can you play freezetag if they are blocking needed outbound ports?  :0  You have to get paid for something...

You could try typing  /cl_connectionAttempts <whatever number you want> in the ~ console. 30 connection attempts will look like this.

It stops the server timing out thing when it reaches 10 attempts. You can tell it to try as many times as you want it to. It could Un-Fuck it's self if ya give it more time.
