Check out this video of a home owner in San Antonio doing the right thing. No other words needed.

Good story, an armed home owner stops a repeat burglar. Caught him red-handed, and on camera. Priceless.

No way cops would have gotten there in time to stop him, hence the repeat burglar part.

Nice story, I'm just wondering if shooting a burglar over a $300 LCD TV would be justified....

It depends on the state, I'm constantly reminded that we are the United STATES of America.

If I were to do the same in DC, MD or NY I'd be arrested and thrown in jail. In VA not so much.

You can't shoot them for taking property, not even a vehicle. But you can shoot to "stop the threat" of harm to yourself or another person.

A responsible gun owner to me would shoot his gun as a last resort only if he/she or others were in danger, if he were to shoot him over a TV well then that would make him a dumb ass cause its a TV

well when confronting a criminal its better to have the upper hand just in case, you never know if they will attack you or pull out a weapon themselves, after all they are criminals! asking nicely doesnt always work!

Fortunately for this criminal that he complied with the home owner and there was a video. Texas has "The Castle Doctrine" and he was outside the owners home with no aggressive actions. If he attempted to pull out a wrench or a hammer to attack the homeowner he could have been shot with no repercussions to the home owner. Kudos for the restraint this homeowner showed.

I don't think that two guys who were drinking, had drugs on them, and decided to shoot weapons in their backyard adds up to "responsible." Therefore, I don't see what your link has to do with Gorilla's.

One more note - I don't think that additional gun control laws will in any way stop the felonious activities of people like the two idiots in the article you referenced, either. Clearly they are already of a mind to flirt with - and defy - the law.

Sorry. I forgot that licensed AK-47 owners didn't drink beer or smoke pot.

I could say a lot because there is so much wrong information in the news story you posted as well as your comment about the "licensed AK-47 owners". I'll keep it short though since you will shrug off what I say anyways. You trolled this thread and that is wrong. You should have posted your news link in your own thread, so we could all set the fact's straight in the proper thread. Second it doesn't take a license to purchase or own a semi-automatic AK variant rifle.

"Compare for yourself, a normal rifle bullet against the ammo for the AR-15 of similar caliber"

Third I would like you to find a cartridge manafacturer that labels a specific cartridge as "normal". You won't find one, because the term was made up by a journalist. The picture shows a 22LR vs a .223 or 5.56 caliber round. I know this because I own rifles that shoot both calibers. While the diameter or caliber of the projectile is close to the same, the powder charge, casing size and bullet weight varies drastically. That is why the 22LR is used for target shooting/hunting small game and the .223 or 5.56 is a load used for target shooting/taking medium sized game and humans. They are comparing apples and oranges.

Just as an FYI: It's legal to shoot someone to protect property in Texas. Is it morally right? Well, that has to be a decision everyone makes for themselves. I'm no expert on Texas law, and there's probably some constraints.

Not sure what you mean in the first part of your reply, and I was not trolling. Having a differing opinion is not trolling. Certainly the presentation was slanted given the source, but nonetheless, easy access to whatever firepower you want plus easy access to beer plus dumbfuck stupidity (even without alcohol) equals disaster. The valid point in the article is that AK-47 and similar weaponry have bullets that will penetrate residential walls and need to be used responsibly and in a controlled manner. The ethical issues around such firepower being available to civilian hands boggles the mind.

Fun quote from NRA President, Karl Frederick from 1934:

"I do not believe in the general promiscuous toting of guns. I think it should be sharply restricted and only under licenses". @#$% rights-thieving liberal! ;)

Was it his TV? No! Could he have mistaken it for his TV? No! If he was a kid hmmmm tough call! But hes and adult knowingly and brazenly doing wrong with no regard for the individual who spent his hard earned money for the that TV, DVD, Stereo, Car, Sanctity of his fucking home. It's not just a TV he's taking, he's taking a part of your life that you've invested in. He's destroying a style of life I want for myself, my family and friends, everyone should feel safe in there home and neighborhood and tolerating dickshits who if they didn't actually think you'd shoot them will just walk on with no regard for all we strive for ! I say shoot the fucker and let his deity deal with it. Or am I just being an old cranky bastard?

I don't know what you were thinking when you posted this video in this forum? Did you even watch my video? We all know that you are against guns. I was showing what a responsible gun owner does in a situation of home defense where a gun is involved.

We all know your an "Idiot" but this was just an asinine post you made on my topic of "Responsible gun owners"
