Playing today i noticed a camper bounty had been implemented meaning that i was able to find the enemy very easily. I am guessing if the camper mod stays then it will be better if we remove the sniper rifles and any other single shot or scoped weapon. The idea of the game is to be realistic, mimicing a real battle with infantry using a various style of weapons and play style. I then checked on the forums to find n anouncement about the bounty or at least a post asking for peoples response on the idea. but couldn't find anything. 

 

this bounty has ruined the game in my eyes. What if your melting your team mates in a good location so therefore not wanting to move, now the enemy will find you, what if your the last one and your hidden but can melt a few team mates to change the tide of the battle (having seen teams come back from only 1 player left to win). This wont happen anymore.

I see what you mean Red Baron. I agree with your last bit of text.

 

However, I think it's a good thing there is a anti-camp mod. But maybe it should be turned off for snipers - or giving a longer time before the position gets given away. Same for the last person alive on a team (or even the 3 last)

 

Also, I am not a big fan of the money bag (the idea of getting more points isnt bad) but, what I want to suggest is; whenever someone camps, just put the player on fire, and if he stays in the same area of his camp, then every second he loses 10 hp.

 

That gives him no other alternative than to move away from his spot,, and actually play.

 

[This won't give their positions away on the other peoples screens!!! it's just to them]

 

I had that anti - camp mod on my servers when I was running a clan for MOHAA. It worked :)

Camping is an element of all FPS's.  But this also effects people that like to sit back and defrost teammates. You are forcing ALL players to run and gun which completely contradicts the point of FreezeTag. I have no issues with a bounty if you can keep the player hidden.

Yeah thats what i said.. it wont be shown on the other players screen.. its just for the person itself.. Plus.. a melt - defrost should just be allowed of course. thats why you set it to like.. a minute or so. You dont need a whole minute to defreeze.

Perhaps it would be possible that getting a thaw or two would "reset" the bounty to 0.

An exception is being added for desfrosting and yes it will reset. You dont have to do a full defrost. You just have to make the attempt and do it a little bit. Also for using streaks like picking out airstrike locations. So far testing locally works well.

I noticed bounties ( at least the money bag above the player's head ) stays after a new round starts. Is that intended or a bug?

Sorry Sam but I didn't see the bounty disappear even after I defroze a lot of people... Maybe it'll be in the next update, it would be better.
 
I'm maybe a camper (for most of you), but I'm the one who's defrozing everybody on every maps guys and very quickly, compare to many people who never watch their minimap and don't defroze their teammates. Now I will not play as an unit cover, I gonna run and gun? But this is not the spirit of the freezetag... What a perfect combinaison when I defroze from distance and google's running and killing everywhere. God I like that. And now, there is no more strategy? Just run n gun and kangaroos?
 
By the way, can we add a bounty for every rabbit on the map everytime that they're doing more than 10 jumps in 20 seconds or everytime they're jumping for killing? And the bounty disappears when they walking a little of course :-)

Server should already have had numbers doubled for the timer, how quick it adds up if you dont move, and the number of points required for termination. With these numbers if you get 30 points or more on you then you are a good camper.  Marked? Then you are a true master.

 

Changes to come when I get the next script online.

 

Defrosting of any length, even just 1 second, will reset the checks but will not remove or reduce the bounty itself. I could do a timer thing but I figure just making the effort will be good enough.

No termination icons in overtime.

The last player left will not have a termination icon. If he had one it will be removed. Not sure yet how to handle 'restore' if the team gets back up to strength.

A player will not receive any messages to move until he is marked. Out of sight out of mind. So if you dont see the bag they cant see you. But points can still be collected on you.

For bunnies... I hate bunnies also. Not going to do the usual method of disabling weapons however. That would leave a player defenseless. Maybe do something else. Remember that on this server the normal jump slowdown is disabled so its much harder to shoot them.

I hate those hoppers too.. just as much as campers... !!! I think you will figure something out that makes almost everyone happy Sammy, just keep ya head in the game. 

 

It's easier to complain about something ,than it is to compliment on something good.. Thats how people are ;) Remember that.

 

I think you are doing great work and you at least try to come up with new things :):thumbsup:

Re the Bunnies

 

Is it possible to reduce their firing accuracy while in the air?  A little for one jump in a row, a bit more for 2 jumps in a row, etc????

Some mods do that by messing up your aim a bit in a random direction if you jump. So while in the air you would have to recenter your target again. Of course bunnies hate that because they think the act of jumping shouldnt affect where you are looking.

How will that affect those of us that running jump out windows and select targets on the way down? Im assuming it will take multiple jumps to activate what ever you might plan to impliment. @@Sammy

Yes. Which is why a solution like that is problematic for cod players. How do you separate bunnies from the others. Even so is it reasonable to say your aim would be off by the act of either jumping off the ground or jumping out of window? The random idea isnt meant to be tactical realism, just to handle situations where players want to be Neo in a military shooter. A similar thing was made up for dolphin divers or quick prone. Messed up your aim just a bit.

 

I remember the quick scoper thing in BO I think is was and the whiners. To them it is reasonable to immediately bring up a heavy rifle up to your eye with no change in where it is aiming. Good thing they didnt add gravity otherwise there would be complaints about bullets that actually dropped as they flew.  COD4 is an arcade game but it doesnt have to be Mortal Kombat.

In my opinion, this bounty system is non-sense. Everyone has their own way of playing the game. My understanding is:

I don't care for all of these mod changes. It is taking the fun out of the game for me. I am playing a lot less now and have moved on to other games.  :(

Uh, no. There are campers and there are campers. Perhaps you dont care when some loser does nothing but hide prone in the grass underneath a walkway shooting everybody. But I do. Keep in mind there are quite a few here that consider stealing care packages without permission a kickable offense. A bit two-faced if you ask me. You can camp like a teenage girl scout around the fire roasting marshmellows  but you cant take someone else's care package.

Its everyones own decision if he will camp or not. in some maps i camp too in other maps i dont camp. and i hate the hoppers too. also i hate that you can jump from the highest points and nothing happends.

someone wrote The idea of the game is to be realistic, but its not realistic to jump down from roofs or windows in the second floor.

In realistic games you will break your leg and friendly fire is on. that makes a game much more exciting.

But that only my opinion.
