Loads better yesterday and I actually enjoyed playing. I'm thinking it must have been connection issues, maybe a certain hop that was only affecting some people??

 

Anyway, only one CI of note throughout 3 maps, hit detection was much more snappy and there were far fewer WTF moments. I even got a moving target knife in!

Tried out knifing on the server yesterday. When I was on target I got a kill. But if the target was off-center when the knife came up then I missed.

 

For the numbers for all bullet weapons... original stock and custom... there is a built in delay of 0.13 seconds between pressing the button and the start of the melee sequence when the knife is down. Or 0.16 for melee charges. The kill itself also wont register until the knife starts coming up and its still on target. Which also takes another 10th of a second or so. So you dont just push the button and then bam.  It has always been this way since 2007 and before. Just to note, some later games actually have different melee times based on the weapon. I thought it did in this game also but I was wrong. All bullet weapons have the same numbers.

 

We all know very well that in a fast moving FPS game with players on opposite sides of the world jumping around this fraction of a second can be an eternity.

I was rather disappointed to see this mod back on. I know a lot of hard work was put into it but as the mythbusters proved you can polish a turd, but it's still a turd. It's still aimed at pansy ass players who just want to get more bullets and tubes out than the next guy. It's a mod that wants to force explosives or other worthless inventory on you. Like I said last time this thing came around how about giving me an option to give up the inventory for a lightweight perk (longer sprint time). How about you put the bomb squad perk (or hacker as it's called now) back in the first tier where it has been on every other cod4 version or even better put it in the inventory as it's suppose to be a balance for people who think those who use clays, c4, and fake packages are lesser life forms barely worth notice (though not as bad as tubers and lmg whores). This mod punishes those who want a little stealth or skill rather than spraying and tubing all the time. I mean really what's next you gonna put stealth, hacker, dead silence, snatch and grab, and hardline in the same tier so you can spread out deep penetration, venom, and sonic boom out? And for FUCK SAKE TURN THE FRIENDLY FIRE ON! half the bitching on the servers is about blind tubes/frags and bunny hopping prefires. It won't fix the hopping but your less likely to prefire or tube/frag when you might kill your teammate. If I have offended anyone by this post just let me say Sammy I know you put a lot of work into it and I respect that, but it doesn't mean I have to like the mod. Any one else TFB it's my opinion and where I live your allowed to have one a voice it if you want to.

i have to agree with the majority of people on here and say that i am also struggling with this mod but will persist with it as i love this game type and the people who play it (except for Tiger). I also recognize that a lot of time and effort goes into these mods (Sammy) and for that i am truly grateful as it is a thankless task and you must get sick and tired of the complaints (everyone's a critic).  

But i was lead to believe that we were going to take all the good things from this mod and the previous mod and make a mod that would appease most.

This might be an ongoing project but if so can we put the old mod back on until it is ready or like Blaze said originally can we have both mods on and at least choose which one we like to play on.

I have NO idea what you guys are talking about knife not working..It works just FINE..As a matter of fact is the only thing I use in a close battle..Works WAY better than gun..

 

Nothing like coming around a corner and cut a BEEECH up or Jumping towards opponent and knife his or her head like a coconut..Good times there..

The counter to tubes is the flak jacket. It is very effective. However it certainly wont protect you from explosives at your feet. There are certain CQ maps where I wont play without it because of the tubes and grenades. But it has always been this way. As for not wanting inventory, choose one of the hk416, m16 or mp5 special weapon options that give you two attachments. Choose the rechargeable EMP mine. Wonderful for protecting yourself against cars and a nice surprise for run and gunners that dont look where they are going. Choose the EMP nade with 3x inventory option to defrost friendly players. There are many options if you dont want a tube or rocket. However I will not limit other peoples choices because you dont want them to have it.

A delay on tubes at start of round would be appreciated. Sucks to see them all flying across as soon as a map starts and it's just really frustrating that I have to choose the flak jacket purely to survive the start of a round.

Perks 1 is for weapon proficiencies. Perk 2 is for special abilities. Perk 3 for personal non-inventory equipment. Some things can arguably fall under perk 2 or 3 depending on whether or not you want to consider something an ability or piece of equipment.

No Sammy not mad. Disappointed. I think that was the first thing I said. I have no problem with giving people more choices but why take away choices people use. Every class I had had hacker, dead silence, stealth / hacker hardline, stealth / hacker, snatch and grab, stealth. the way the options are set up now there is no way to get a true stealthy package. I don't like the way the two special packages are set up. I don't like the reflex site, I prefer iron sites though I do like the laser for hip fire. The last time a variation of this was on the servers I tried making some suggestions nicely but was simply told it wouldn't work or was too much trouble, but the one thing that could make any mod better is still very simple. Turn the friendly fire on. I've said it from before I was ever a member. Friendly fire makes everything better (in games mind you). As is though I guess I'll just stop playing at that server now. I kept trying to give it a chance last time to see if any changes were made and some were when an admin suggested moving some perks around it was done pretty fast but hey if my opinion doesn't count to you that's fine with me it's your choice and your opinion. Anyway I think there is still an accuracy issue though it seems better if the server isn't packed full. Maybe just trying to put too much on an old game or maybe I just have a shit connection or maybe it's just time to move on.

I do think that car protection should come with the stealth perk, rather than separately with hardwired. Eavesdropping would fit niceley with the hacker perk in this instance as hardwired is only really useful to jam cars..... there is a reason there is a team other than the one @@wildthing is on. ;)

Can make the Flak Jacket save you from being blown up from all of these fucking RC cars PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE?

 

I swear I die more times from those fucking RC cars than people shooting me.I had an 8 death streak yesterday from RC Cars and I was running Hardwired and EMP grenade and Counter Measures.

 

Oh it is normal for the Counter Measures to say recharging in 30,000 seconds?

Hardwired also protects against EMP and CUAV jamming. Including if you are in a car. Putting car protection on Stealth will make the perk too powerful considering all the other things it does.

 

In any case, I could probably make up a bunch of preset classes made up of options not normally available in custom classes. Since they are preset you cannot change them. Will depend on whether or not it will cause any major script problems of existing stuff but I dont think so. It's already set up for multiple tier choices via Gambler.

 

edit: Recharging should be 30 seconds but the hud element is likely showing miliseconds. Flak Jacket will protect you against cars unless it explodes at your feet. EMP Countermeasures should kill a car completely even if the player has Hardwired. Unless I missed something and will check. For balance, nades are obviously less powerful than the mine. The flak jacket should reduce explosive damage to %40 of normal assuming the enemy doesnt have sonic boom. However since this is hardcore, with only 30 health, it will still kill if close.

Knifing is fine. Tested it myself yesterday, again.  As I said there are a few ways to counter the car but they are not invincible. Neither the car nor the protection. Nothing is. There are precisely zero justifications why a pack of C4 attached to a car at your feet should not kill you. In a previous beta and unknown to be the body armor did precisely that. Not very fair, is it?

I only have annoying hit issues in close combat. The other day i was shooting @@NITRO point blank and he wasnt dying so i thought maybe i am off my rockers and he is a friendly. The fucker spam kills me with a .50 cal. Fuck you, for bringing down my KDR to 22/6.
