Case air flow ??

So something i never thought about was just brought to my attention about my PC..... Airflow.... WHat do you guys reccomend for airflow and maximum cooling ? i currently have 120mm fan on top vent and a 80mm fan on back both pointing outwards. As i think about it, it doesnt seem to be a fantastic airflow system any suggestions on if i need more fans or better placement ?

The more fans the better and make sure one is directly cooling your processor. If you want to go extreme, a water cooled system is also a choice. I use 4 120mm fans and a 80mm processor fan.

Buddy, I have a big-ass fan on the side of my case--also pointing out-- and a fan (never measured, never thought to--also pointing out) at the back of my case. I have two cute little fans blowing air on my RAM cards.

 

Overkill, however, 'cause I live in Alaska, and the only thing in danger or over-heatin' on my machine is me, lol.

 

I think that, as long as you keep your machine's innards free of dust (make sure that you blow your fans, too. @@hxtr, take it away, bud), you shouldn't have any problems.

 

Dust, which is an insulator, is not conducive to proper cooling.

 

We all like deep-fried chips, or "crisps" if you're in Sweet @@dadda2's neck of the woods, but we don't like deep-fried chips when you're talking about your computer.

Try to put one on the front and that should blow in.

Cooling is important and is important to balance what you draw in, you remove. Google positive vs negative case pressure. They both have pros and cons ans decide what suits your needs. Understanding the cfm's of your fans is necessary.

Thanks everyone. i saw several youtube videos on positive and negative pressure but wasnt sure about what i should do. Thanks again everyone i think im going to grab one more and have air pulled in the lower front vent

The main thing is to evacuate as much air as you can from the inside to the outside and try not to create a vacuum.

In my honest opinion you will have to test each setup out but 1 in 2 out is probably best. Myself for every fan that points in gets an equal size fan to push out.

it's better to get a good full tower case in the first place so airflow wouldn't be issues. what most people won't realize the thing that kills pc is the heat inside the case.

I think your case had two 120mm fan spots on top (which would be sucking air up and out, but does help).  We would need to find you a couple fans for that.  I didn't see if you room up front for one.  And your rear i guess had the 80 mm that you already had.  You could do a powerful one in front (like the one we put in- to push air in) and two slower ones up top (pulls air out ).  That sort of balances out the pressure.  Take a look at the front and see.

There is a front ...for incoming air and a side 120mm option for incoming...then use the top for exhausting air.  If you use several fans...you also do not need to use high airflow fans, unless you care about noise.

in low front  and  out back high and or top.no mystery

side  middle is a bonus going inwards to cool cpu/gpu

 

all 120mm if you can or 2 smaller high flow in front.mod it if ya have to..gl dont be afraid to mod your case but you probably dont have to

 

if you have to get smaller high flow fans .be careful

.my son buys this volcano fan for the best airflow and it was screaming loud /waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa    he ended up throwing it away.waste of 35 bucks-its not only about the airflow of the fan it has to be quiet/find the lowest db rating with good flow

Yup, if you can better off with bigger fans turning slower. A fan speed regulator is also nice to have tho.

That is why I love @@Mule and my case. All the cables are tucked away.

the early modular PSU's  had to be careful of the PCI-e and motherboard power connectors  for they were inter-changeable @ PSU !

Cooling is everything...the cooler your components are the longer they will last...and if your a real idiot the more you can overclock them...liquid cool systems with monster power supply's will last for ever. After building a new box and way before overclocking it you really need some software that will monitor your component temps...
