My daughters laptop battery became swollen and we are having a hard time finding a good rating of one. It was a gift from a family friend couple years ago. All help would be great. It's the only thing she can depend on to make digital art work and streaming content.

Razer, I am not surprised. One brand, that I avoid the most.

Laptop works without a battery, replacement could be hard but possible.
Seems like you are not in the best of luck,  what I also read on Twitter "to help out with car repairs and for my 3 boys".

Wishing you good luck.

yeah we are hitting hard times right now... it sucks.... back to back appointments... Memphis keeps getting hit hard with storms and when they do, power goes out down there so that means folks not being able to cook or get orders. hubby does Uber Eats. Soon I will be able to work once my 3 yr old gets into Kindergarten fulltime. For now I am streaming to twitch and i am affiliated there so each time i reach the payout limit i can cash out but that will take time.

There are cross over brands as well...The thing is to make sure the volts 15.4 V and Battery Capacity 5209mAh match up....

I found them on many sites but lots coming from China...***Edit*** for those in the back ! I meant being shipped from China....Found this one on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/OUWEE-RC30-0248-RZ09-02385E92-R3U1-RZ09-02386E91-R3U1-RZ09-02887E92-R3B1/dp/B083D2B67D#customerReviews

Actually several brands are made in other countries. However, that doesnt mean that individual *parts* arent made in China. Like 'American' cars with overseas suppliers.

The ones that were ordered over a year ago and are stuck somewhere on a boat, off a coast, in a port, on a dock, in a truck that is stopped on a bridge making a statement, at a overworked Amazon warehouse, alongside a train track in LA in a trash pile, or my favorite stolen off a front porch near you. So if we started making shit in Merica we could reduce supply chain issues by almost 50%, the other issues are self inflicted. If it will never arrive it doesn't matter where it is made. Just sayin

only use the battery when outside the home (no wall outlet),  in house use a UPS to power laptop power brick so not to loose power while streaming.

reason the battery swelled is over charging or charge regulator has isssues

RC30-0248 is the battery. Search Amazon or Ebay and try to get an OEM battery if at all possible.

Like this one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/133525118593?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item1f16b79e81:g:hMwAAOSwHXlhl1zu&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAACoPYe5NmHp%2B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsSHYXPhGXR5uguexJBeHwfgQ%2BDcW73deINM%2BBui6o5SYfuUCPm4k4N7jW4XGFfZC3S0gHMpvoXLn3k2JJHrn2sfCXAuGwkH%2BrqG9o7jdHfB57%2BziFK3ANuze3JZj%2FG00cf%2BH7U%2Fr984ar%2FlBcg5Lu7YKAzGUZd3Z2DSeDO8wJFMDvwbPPiZoGxqGwUIobJUCMPmBuktwqM4b0m0bK%2FknvzspSQoobr2Vw2KV7HZ3nBFQZo7zA43lZx8YgQ20fpw%2BOXBf07PcERm0KED5Q3D2UhZc6%2FfDcW9IYTA1W0FPL5zT6u8%2Bq%2FB243d%2FHOt4ZpwomzqGzvoKitj8V%2FPL4gz50WP58uVwq%2Bmi2fQYOhV9twBK%2F9W1Gfpjr1FomhwHwQCxclpcdXjcXVb2YGdK8%2B6ZSIXbHCMvA62MIaHz2spIhVLoK6SQDFmAOyv3fIVv74gyWueCJumXPorFNCmYOtCu96JtqpGPamu5qbjOY4g61n4NRdV4E19ABuomO%2Fk6OTtf2zw%2BvT7A2BRDQlF1%2BkbkmWcxidcC0JJ3PVc2OMzQ4FoS80ADgECiABfUpVr0fh6i0%2Fpq1pvRawXLR0%2Fo6pWI2IrATDV16re44u3c5M7YBfFg4CMCR941wOd8EPOGxLy2kObHKWJcgq3Hj6y293aoKwE4K7LKsXObXvUdUNNJnfJfQY%2Bhmr1E%2FAZOst84c13x64ZJyGe2P62Pj6gtW2NRYPgZExIZp6lAHcQ7aFSxJgPMLtQs8ZUpqZI9%2FvpCeVOy7YQUQxy4KFAm1m4jxta9h4OzvB%2B07kQVJDU04mjn9QtHzJEQww9Q2ao8gBcO1wLIxuf0GkRgz9dVQ7cLNbzJmE6A%3D%3D|clp%3A2334524|tkp%3ABFBM9orJ1OJf

You will need a Torx T5 screwdriver bit and a #2 Phillips screwdriver.

Decent tutorial on how to replace the battery.

Not 100% sure with these newer laptops but, it should work if you just remove the battery and keep it plugged in. I have a laptop that still works fine without a battery in it. Just have to keep it plugged in. I have it hooked to my TV to stream movies and stuff since I don't have Cable TV.

k took her battery out very carefully, she was able to power it up, turns out one of her fans need to be replaced. she said the laptop itself is acting weird. gunna have to see exactly what she is talking about to understand what she is trying to tell me. boy oh boy she was throwing a major fit like i didnt know jackshit on taking computers apart and that the battery was like a ticking time bomb n all that. once she seen that i have had the battery completely removed and all that plus showing her that it is dirty and still needs to be dusted which has been done. she started to trust me more LOL.

as for the battery on amazons, i looked and all of em have poor customer reviews... batteries lasting no more than 4 months or not able to hold charge n etc.

I told her if she lands herself a job in Nashville from a job interview that she has coming up, save up the money and get that laptop fixed or save up a good few thousand dollars and get herself a great gaming laptop. She plays sims, does a lot of art work, streams her artwork drawings to show how she makes her pledge badges for her fans n etc.

Don't bend or poke or get the battery wet. They can catch fire and/or explode. Lithium batteries can be pretty darn nasty. Don't throw it in the trash. I've seen a few fires started that way.

Take it outside and whack it with a hammer a couple times and see what it does? lol  Did that with my old phone battery and it swelled up and caught fire.

Video of a laptop battery being poked with a simple thumbtack.

Laptop might be on it's last leg. They will quickly overheat from a bad fan, clogged up by dust or by being used on a bed which covers the fan ports.

When they overheat, the solder under the CPU and GPU chips and GPU memory chips melt. It can be fixed by someone that has the equipment and knows how to re-ball the solder joints but it costs alot and usually doesn't last.

See what she means about "acting weird"  If it's crashing or artifacting or the graphics driver constantly crashing and reloading when loading stuff (screen goes black and screen flickers a couple times then comes back up) If it does that she's hurt bad.

Looked on Ebay and there are a bunch of new motherboards for it but they are $265+ for the base model with the i7-8750H and GTX 1060 and the OEM battery is around $90 and the fans are $40 for the pair. Looks like that laptop still sells for $850-$1200 used so it is worth fixing if you are up to the challenge lol. You Might have to run system restore or try to contact Razer to get the OS to load with the new motherboard.
