This server I hope will be the last stop for the MW2 server, so far the Freezetag 1 feedback has been outstanding with this host so I hope to hear the same from the MW2 crowd. Please get in this server asap and try it out and leave feedback GOOD or bad.

Thanks @@Ruggerxi, will this server have the in game commands for admins and also the !fu command as was in the old server? We really miss those features lol. :thumbup:

Any feedback on the server performance?

Had a couple of small ci but very quick. Ping is lower so all good for me. I wasnt hearing any complaints. :thumbup:

just playing it..me and couple others complained that its real laggy....and this was 7 on 7 ....last server no lags just few ci issues...personally i like the last server b4 this move....u would think with 50 ping wouldnt be no lag...was there reason why it moved again? i mean that server gotten better lag wasnt there anymore...

I have been asking all morning and people have had no complaints at all, I asked at 10 players, 15, and this last one was with 27 on. Only thing I heard was a split second CI a couple times throughout the morning but that could of been user side also. 

 

So I don't know what to tell everyone anymore, I guess some people will just have great gameplay and others will not

Played a map to try it out, seemed pretty ok, Mouse movement felt slow to me, but that might just be imagination..  Ping is about the same as the old mw2 server.. running and bunnyhopping felt pretty smooth.. i think this is a server for keeps ! (Y)

@@LOCO this new server will have no stats and no commands running on it as the host won't allow us to run the B3 Bots on thier servers. Sorry bro it kills me too, i'm going to need more screens so I don't have to keep minimising the game to deal with in game douchebags and other issues.

 

Edit: just commandeered my house mates spare screen lol, this might be the excuse i need to upgrade to the quads i want :laughing:

was playing on new server 1 (63.251.20.108) tonight was smooth and all but we (not only me) had 1 big CI

after that i went on the new MW2 (63.251.20.78) and also got the same kind of CI but nobody else said they had it, so i dunno if it was just me or not

 

what is weird is that those seems to be the same kind of CI we had previously, the one that freeze everything for like 5 sec then u get some kind of lost packets but in half a sec (u know sound and all at 200% speed) then a big freeze for 10 sec or something

Rugger, I had a couple of big ci's on the new MW2 server.  The server had about 25 players in at that point and Chile was also asking if anybody else was getting them.  Not sure what is going on but the tracert to the server seems fine but getting the ci's.

I played on the new server and so far I have no complaints, Im not getting CI's like we were on the old one. And Im not sure if anyone answered this for you guys @@NITRO and @@CobraBites but our new server host does not allow bots so the B3 bot will not be on these new servers. Which means no, !fu, !nextmap or !BanList or whatever that was.. Thanks @@Ruggerxi and duc for all of your hard work..

yea me and bas both noticed it...was significate lag....it was like the server in philly or pa w/e it was.....its unplayable for me....the 192 i had didnt see much lags it was having some ci issues but nothing like b4..it was atleast playable ..got to be a medium some where...some how i hope...not sure why mw2 moved....i thought everyone was sayin it was working good..

well was just playin in there for bout 3 rounds or so ...didnt see i was laggin....maybe it was temp server lag issues that cleared up after i left this morn....i never came back i watched football all day....not doin much tomorrow will have time to play and check it out more and longer...

Since the mw2 server was started up early yesterday no script errors in the logs. So the mod is running great.

Fewer CIs but not as frequent definitely better than the last server. There is some lag for me, I have to hit players twice for the most part to get hit registration. Players with very low ping, like < 50ms have the upper hand. My CIs on this last same amount of time as the  last server ~10 secs but they are infrequent so it bothers me less. However, there is an issue of synchronization, I get yellow blocks in chunks.

 

Overall, its better indeed and there will always be issues for some and not for others. I say if 70% of those who report, have reported no issue, we ought to keep it.

 

@@Ruggerxi, who is our host this time? I mean what's the name of the hosting company. 

 

@@Sammy, I am just thinking out loud here, but can we host this mod on a private server, say my PC? I can host it on my network internet connection, open up the ports and play with people in regional proximity to me. I suppose I am wondering if the server starts to struggle when a lot of traffic is being sent to people connecting from farther corners of the globe (i.e. packet loss and what not).

Just a console with the server. A spare laptop with an ethernet connection could do it. Do not use wireless. Use another computer for the client. You could do both the server and client on the same machine but it is not preferred. Upload bandwidth will matter greatly. If you have 384 then you might be able to get away with 4-6 players. It will depend because its a big mod with a lot of data being received and sent. Also, unless you plan to have a redirect somewhere make sure the server cannot upload files or it will sap your connection.

I have a very decent machine that I can use. Core2Quad at 3.6GHz with 8GB RAM and SSD. Also, I have a 12Mbps uplink which ought to be sufficient I think. Internal networking is wired and all on 1Gbps LAN network. How do I set it up or FTAG mod? I did a dedicated server experiment by setting it up through the mod selection in game but I don't have the maps so just used the stock maps. It wasn't working the way our mod on the host works though. 

 

Also, I think I discovered one cause of the lag. I was with @@Pressa on the server and Bones joined in from Australia with a 400ms ping. When he joined I got a red block and a yellow block and a CI. Once his ping stabilized to 300ms my connection was all better again to the server. So needless to say, I think players with high pings might be one big cause of this issue. Perhaps, we can put a maximum ping limit? When people with slow internet speeds try to connect to our server upon initial map load, their connections can't handle all that load and their ping spikes which lags everyone. At least, that's my working theory.

Do not run a dedicated server from within the game. You will either be using a .bat file or a shortcut with command line settings. There are many examples on the internet for setting up a server in this fashion. Go to speedtest to get a true value for your upload speed. After that PM me and we will see about getting a home server set up for you.

I am curious why we have issues with what we can run on the servers like the bots etc..  Is it not worth paying for either a vps or dedicated box and doing what you like??
