Windows Is Falling Apart, And Microsoft Is Panicking
Sitting-Duc replied to Barron's topic in General Discussion
These forums are hosted in Canada and not on free speech per-say; it has always been moderated and your ability to message on them is gifted from the likes of Rugger and myself. There is no magic constitution on here; just what a few random people from different corners of the world decide together... but rest assured if you ever have issues connecting to them it's likely me wanting to take a break from reading your messages and fucking with you. VPNs are great, but you you are effectively shifting the trust from your ISP (private company) to the VPN provider (private company). You trust that the VPN provider does what they say and doesn't log your activity, hides your originating IP and keeps their software up-to-date and secure. Any website host can/will/may block VPNs to *protect* themselves. We do it to varying levels on this site and our servers; yes VPNs can provide a privacy protection to their users and most of the time it's fine, it really doesn't matter that a VPN service is used. But at the point that someone using a VPN starts to use it as a 'shield' to protect themselves so they can do "wrong"; be that activities such as spam, hate speech, racism, gore, or hacking attempts - it's at that point a host starts to block all users of the VPN or just generally the usage of VPNs. But that's a complete aside to the original topic of this thread... but I like the topic as it interests me - Today

Hey fuckers. Sorry I haven't been on in a bit. Wife switched to a graveyard shift last year and since then the servers are empty by the time she wakes up (~6pm pst). Don't worry, I'll go get a laptop here soon so I can play somewhere else while she's sleeping. Until then enjoy your fake high scores while I'm not there. I'm turning 50 years old this year and only have so much longer to whoop your asses while I can still see good enough. I can't believe I have to wear reading glasses to see the damn screen. That is how long I've been playing this dumb game. From being the best almost 20 years ago (FU if you don't think so), to being an old grandpa now that gets pissed off when I'm not on top and can barely see the screen sometimes. Anyway miss all you idiots and I'll see you again soon.

Windows Is Falling Apart, And Microsoft Is Panicking
RobMc replied to Barron's topic in General Discussion
Interestingly today has highlighted some worrying signs for our freedoms in the UK on sites such as this. I tried to log into Youtube kids for one of my grandchildren as I have done dozens of times and was stopped?? I tried everything then it occurred to me switch off the VPN and bingo. While typing my comments to Jointz I got a black screen and cut off, I also notice that my VPN (Proton) often changes to strange countries (Morocco????) when I sleep. By the way I have had a vpn for years and don't watch porn, which is the first thing people assume. So what I can hear you all say??, well these forums are founded on free speech and I must say over the years I have admired their stance. Worryingly I suspect in the UK the first stages of this being stopped are arriving, the thought police are here, and Rob may be a target. -

Love it, what if you'll be lucky to last another decade?? truthfully I don't watch football, rarely drink beer and as for the last part it's a distant memory. AI is flourishing though, most of the punters I meet in my village have been programmed in it, some can even spell now. -

If you think AI isn't going to affect your football (VAR), your beer (supply chain logistics), or your sex life (don't ask), you’re in for a very confusing decade. -

Obviously I'm biased - but much of this is straightforward marketing; you experiement with a bunch of product lines, see what sticks and then push forward with them and remove the ones that don't work or have no future. This isn't the first time Microsoft has discontinued or changes strategies. "Everything has gone to shit" - or, we are pushing out a huge increase in product features at the same error ratio but that results in a higher 'number' of noticed issues overall. Windows and consumer is a tiny portion of the AI related product lines I would think. -
New rotation for OWFT
Merlin007 replied to skuzapo's topic in Call of Duty: World At War's World at War Map Rotations
Map mp_snr_ontona has been removed from the rotation. The map mp_clum should be ok now, the version on the server was different that what was on the redirect, server updated to use version on redirect. The server will need a restart for the change in rotation to take effect. -

Anthropics newer AI release is going to be succesful, expect most white collar jobs to slowly go away, and coders, even Microsofts software will eventually succeed, even though we may dislike it. -

Microsoft even admits 30% of their company code is written by AI. No wonder everything has gone to shit. https://techcrunch.com/2025/04/29/microsoft-ceo-says-up-to-30-of-the-companys-code-was-written-by-ai/
