Just an opinion, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Those who have wind7 be very careful it's the best so far. Sometimes, free costs you more in this case it's not the money but it could be the "time" you spend to fix your pc setup and configurations after you upgrade to wind10. I'm not here to scare anyone. it's just an opinion, lol.

As always do a full backup or make an OS disc image before trying this.

You will be able to download the ISO, you can run this from a USB which will then allow you to format any drive to install the OS onto. I prefer not to perform 'upgrades' as they are not usually great but as they are pushing for 99% of people to be using the upgrades system it will be robust and you should have no problems using it.

Personally, I shall not be rushing to install a new OS.  Experience has taught me that it is unwise to be an

early adopter and, with at least one of our members already experiencing problems with COD4, anything

that interferes with ones gaming is hardly an "upgrade"...

This would be great if they offered a ISO for a fresh install. I learned my lesson in the past and will never 'upgrade' an existing install of Windows to a newer version again.

Yep windows 10 will be a clean install. you won't be able to upgrade. Which is good but I'm still trying to figure out how to do it to all my computers. This is going to be alot of file backup and transfer.

@ sonovabitch

You have to burn or copy an ISO of your windows 10.

Next format your system.

Reboot your computer

Normally, it will load on your dvd and launch windows installation.

If not, check in bios the device priority.

Enjoy

Do you have a USB stick, minimum of 4GB? or if not that a blank DVD?

The process of performing a clean install of any operating system is generally this:

  1. Download the .ISO of the operating system you will be installing
  2. Place that .ISO on an external device

If it is a DVD burn the .ISO to it (Windows 7 has software pre-installed)

If it is a USB use WinRAR (or other software) and extract the contents to the USB

  1. Restart your computer and use the BIOS or Boot Manager to boot from your DVD or USB
  2. Follow the instructions

During the installation you can then format the drive, you cannot format the drive from the operating system that is running from the drive.. that would be a self destruct and it wouldn't like it.

You can mount the .ISO on a virtual drive and do it that way but it is harder to recover from if a problem occurs during install.
