Watched most of season 1 and the more I watched the more I wanted it to be "Good" but that never seemed to happen. I'm a HUGE Star Trek fan? nerd? But I can no longer bare to watch it.

 

The episodes seem way to short. 10 minutes of shorts from previous episodes before the into, and probably somewhere around 65-70% of each episode is talking about past events.

Star Trek has always been action packed with some sort of story but they are drawing out the story to much for my liking. They did a similar thing with Stargate Universe which IMO was the worst series in the Stargate franchise. Star Trek Discovery has Some talking and BS and the characters take some time be likable but each episode I watch, the more I want to watch.

TNG + DS9 my favorites.  DS9 being necessarily darker because they're in one spot adjacent to that High-traffic wormhole & can't warp their way out of trouble; so it's stand your ground & fight...with weapons including subterfuge. I agree they're stretching it out, like a family on food stamps...spread too thinly with the apparent budget constraints?  That & Picard's considerably older & somehow that translates to a device conflating his age with inexplicably story lines.

Well, I really don't understand the woke terminology, it just doesn't make sense to me.  (Let's go Brandon baffles me too, but I DO UNDERSTAND who and what a Karen is.)   

Picard... I suppose I am a trekkie, tend to watch anything Star Trek related, and well this show is better than nothing,  AND they bring back the old gang here and there so there is that.  As for that musical bit, that was cool, who knew she had such a great voice (for such a nerdy Scientist who is crazy and now seemingly Owned by a lizardy type of Mother Master Borg.

Point is, it is... ergo maybe watch it?  lol   I still don't get the whole "Woke" saying.  Makes no sense.  (Awake, awakened, Asleep, wtf is this Woke saying?  Here is what online Dictionary from Google Search has to say about it.  ---->

Freedom is a pretty easy to understand word everywhere. Even among those where English is not their first language. Maybe not even their second. But 'woke'? Other parts of the world probably say 'WTF is woke'? In their native tongue of course.

Woke is a new method of swindling money on the pretext of racism, colour or privilege (you'll hear this often), Firstly you'll need a source of ready cash, anywhere in North America or Europe are just fine, then a politician with the brain the size of a pea (plenty about) to promote your cause.

Then you need an obscure argument to claim your compensation, the further back in time the better, i.e. my family were Roman slaves (sue Italy), American slaves (sue the USA) or were transported (sue the UK), you get the idea, currently the slave thing seems the most popular. However worth a mention are were you wronged by a Royal in the past, is your university inclusive, did your family suffer from Viking raids (Norway is very rich and I'm filing a claim to get my gold back), the list goes on.

You must be inventive and appear wronged by some cause, or something annoys you that is out of your control like a street name or pub sign that have stood for 300 years or more. Ignore the feeling of the majority as you and your fellow snowflakes must fight the people with privilege who work and pay taxes (aka ordinary folk), not your snowflake friends.

Anyway the important thing of course is to try and extract cash out of these innocents whatever way you can, that is the basic principle. Of course when you win and are richer than them you must reassess your strategy, don't want you paying tax do we?

And thus the disconnect. You could have a lot of Biden voters say you are right who will then tell you to look at the worse alternative that you gave them. A lot of people that voted Trump the last time said the same thing to democrats. Look at what you gave as an alternative to him. Not sure if what I said was accepted as accurate or not. Or simply unpleasant to read all around. Im sure democrats dont want to hear that Biden, as the winner, is the lesser of two evils. History has shown that voters... except true believers of which there are many more these days... most of the time feel that they have to choose among two bad options picked by the respective parties. Its a very old maxim.

We are pretty screwed however if either side of true believers gain absolute power. Which is what they want and to do it with zero opposition. And they will do and manipulate anything to get there. All the while insisting that its the other side that wants it while they dont. The question is which ones know this as those that want the power, and would use it, and which ones actually believe it who will give that power away willingly.
