I'm not a Glock fanboy, but I've been issued them and used them for decades ... G17, G19, G22, G23, G26, G27, G30SF. Tons of training and field use turned me into a believer of the Glock as a valid, reliable tool for self defense. Are they perfect? No ... there is no perfect firearm. Is there a better semi-auto pistol platform out there that beats a Glock? Not in my professional and personal experience. I've owned (and still own) different makes/models/calibers of handguns. However, my choice for concealed carry during -- and post-professional experience -- is a Glock. I currently carry a G26 and a G30SF. For the record, I personally recommend sticking to a 9mm or 45 ACP Glock, as the 40 S&W has proven to beat up their pistols pretty bad over time. All of these rounds are effective for both personal defense and target shooting, but I'm just speaking about the overall wear-and-tear of your pistol.2 points -

Glocks are a good gun, easily available parts/accessaries very reliable, and easy to strip clean. You really can't go wrong with a Glock its just a really all-around good gun but their are a lot of better pistol makers out at the same or lower price nowadays. Other than reliability the Glocks suffer inn several areas. First is their sights which are the first thing folks usually upgrade and next is the trigger which by many is considered average at best and also the barrel if you want some improvement inaccuracy. The Glock does everything good but nothing great except for its reliability which is about as good as it gets. I like and also own them, my duty pistol was 17 and my concealed was a 19.2 points -
Sounds like fun but sadly I can’t commit to anything! I have these 2 little granddaughters that as soon as they enter the door and start calling Papa? Papa? Where are you Papa? My heart melts and I leave my in game family for my little angels, it’s just the way it’s got to be! Someday they will stop calling for Papa and instead think some biker JERK named Snake is way cooler! Oh yea I have something for Snake in my cabinet if Snake acts up, just saying? Love to be there but priorities call. Good luck everyone enjoy the scrim. Papa2 points

Nothing wrong with a 1911. I used to own one, but as you said, it was a bit heavy to carry concealed. I sold it off and invested in other firearms. I do miss my Sig P229. I should have kept that one.1 point -

HK rocks! On a side note, I do miss my Sig P229. I had the conversion parts to run it for both 357 Sig and 40 S&W. I traded it to an NYPD officer for a G26 years ago. Fun fact ... I bought a surplus police Beretta 96D and converted it to an M9 using USGI parts last year. Smooth gun ... love the Beretta!1 point -

You are right and I agree 100% I should have bought it earlier but with the lock down due to covid I could not buy it and could not book a CBT. The first CBT available was this Monday just gone so I took the course then bought the Bike brand new at a great price with 2 years warranty and 2 years breakdown. But I have also purchased fully armoured Jacket, trousers, boots and gloves and it will be only used when weather permits for the commute to work.1 point

You be careful boy, especially in the wet, my advice after 45 years of motorcycling (before it ended) would have been for newcomers and those returning to buy an older bike as on the learning curve you will probably drop it, don't get put off it happens. That is a nice reliable commuter bike but shouldn't you have bought it earlier?, weather turning now.1 point

People refuse to believe they can be touched. Yet these storms happen every year and granted some years they are not bad . Then there are those yrs even people's homes that are inland get ripped apart by these storms. I would not live in those areas but here in this area there is a town about 15 miles away that is built in a flood plain. The fastest growing part of that city is in the flood plain. The county keeps giving them permits to do so and then one of these years it will all get washed away. Go figure.1 point -
You guys get house and fire insurance easily ?? serious question as insurers love to find a way of ducking out of paying anything, do you have to declare ?1 point

I purchased quite a bit of ammo over the last 2 years. 17K rounds. Most is .223, .22 and .45. Very impressed with your stash though. I have mine all locked up in an ammo locker due to the fact that I have little ones around, plus this way if someone breaks in, they can’t take it and there is no way they can lift the locker or take it up a flight of stairs out of the basement. Weighs wayyyyyyyy more than my fully loaded fridge.1 point

To make the RSO cure oil you need a plant that has the highest THC content and the lowest CBD content. I use Purple Kush as it is the only strain with both of those ingredients. I only grow for medicinal reasons.1 point

Pump Action Shotgun for home defense
BigPapaDean reacted to ANGUS for a topic
https://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/gun-shots/2013/08/twenty-plenty Lots of good advice Randall.. You really need to think before buying a gun home defense... You need to understand your laws where you live and how they apply to home defence in your state... Also 20 gauge is all you need. With right choke and shells its plenty of gun for home use... Go to a good local dealer and try to shoot everything your looking at so you can get use to it...And remember one thing.. You don't pull a gun unless you are going to use it and understand the taking of a life... Also always make sure whats behind your target.... Good luck and please be safe....1 point -
Pump Action Shotgun for home defense
BigPapaDean reacted to Blackbart for a topic
A word of advice, forget the bean bag rounds. If you feel you need to use a gun it should be a lethal situation. Nobody wants to shoot someone, but no one wants to be beaten or killed by an intruder. Anyone that breaks into your home has already shown a disregard for you and your family's life.1 point -
Pump Action Shotgun for home defense

I own a bunch of shotguns but my first and favorite and most versatile is my Remington 870 express. I bought it (OMG) 30yrs ago.... It came with 2 barrels (1 slug barrel and 1 Bird shot barrel) and a few different chokes. It never jammed in my recollection, can bang through the woods and mud/rain and still is very affordable. I deer hunt with the slug barrel (or just blow holes in shit) and Bird and skeet/trap shoot with the shot barrel. And don't let the skeet/trap shooters lead you on...with practice you can break both birds with a pump... https://www.remington.com/shotguns/pump-action/model-870/model-870-express Mine is 12 ga. So...its cheap, dependable, versatile, durable and easy as anything to use.1 point -
I would move to Hawaii in a minute. The big island (which is very active). But my wife will not go. Freaks her out, plus family is here. I tell her family can visit !!! But she cant get past the volcano stuff. I tried to explain my take on it is, an "active" volcano is safer than a "pressure cooking" dormant one. She doesn't buy it. ?0 points

At least the homes in pictures are dry (at this point). May have to raise them up higher in a few years. But IF the Artic melts in a couple hundred years or so, well, they will have to move the homes inland. By then we will all be dead and gone. Mother nature has been fucking with stupid humans for years, its nothing new. People scream "Global Warming" !! Well if you look at the history of the Earths weather you would be shocked at how the Earth goes through warming and cooling cycles. Are we at a warming cycle ? Maybe. Is a cooling cycle coming ? Well yes it will, at some point. Unless we are entering the cooling cycle now ? Could be. I notice the weather here in Ohio has been cooler the past few years. So maybe in a few hundred years an Ice Age may be happening. But back to "homes on the beach" , its the chance you take for those killer views !!!0 points
