He was in ICU for the last few days and last night they took him off life support.The same thing happened with my mother in 1983; we had to have her "unplugged" then we waited. It's a weird feeling to wait for someone to die; to know with certainty that the end is shockingly near. Even when there is a terminal illness, as was the case with my mother, when they die it still slaps the shit out of you. My brother, Jimmy, was a grown man when I was born and I barely knew him. I didn't want him to live in pain, but now I'll never have the chance to know him. I worry for my other siblings whom I am closer to. I worry more that I may be last and have to watch them all go. This is me and my siblings in about 1968 in our house in Metairie, LA. Top: Jimmy, DD (Anne). Bottom: Johnny, Kathy (me), Joey. (only my family call me Kathy or my sister DD.) My dad was terminally ill for years and I saw him suffer so much. We all knew he was going to pass but that didn't end the pain when he finally did. I am praying for you and you families comfort! I"ve been through the disconnect and wait 3 times now. While it never gets any easier, i've found that it does give me time to make my internal peace with the situation and i got to spend a few last precious days or hours with my dad, step dad and grandfater that way.
