After 32 years of smoking I need to stop so as of tomorrow at 6am I will no longer be lighting up..Its a health decision my Asthma has started to play up and climbing the stairs is leaving me out of breath.

Good luck to you man, that is a good decision, my mom used to smoke ALOT, she switched to E-Sigs and she was completely off of cigarettes after 6 months.

Good luck Baldie. I will be watching your progress.

I too am planning on quitting within the next week after 35+ years and I'm ready to take the plunge. My biggest concerns are the weight gain and quitting drinking at the same time. I have to quit drinking too because every time I've quit smoking in the past, I've started again after having a few drinks.  Since I don't drink much anyway it shouldn't be a big deal.  The last time I quit (for over 3 years) I went to a party and was back to a pack a day the next morning.

These fucking things suck, and I want to live long enough to meet my grandchildren some day.

14 years a quitter here.........It's not easy...that I can tell you.

Just know that you can never...ever have one again....for if you do you will be right back at it.

I quit Cold turkey without any patches or e-cigs....I feel that is the best way due to not using a crutch.  If you can make it through a week and then a month you will be good to go.

Well I am starting with E-Cigs 24mgms first week then next 2 weeks 12mgms then finally 1 or 2 weeks on 5mgms then just going to use an empty one just until I can break the physical habit of holding something while driving.

That's my plan unfortunately every time I have tried cold turkey I have  failed badly...

But the nurse at my Doctors is going to back me up with a weekly  visit to the surgery to check my peak flow and weight and to give some encouragement so there is no excuse this time.

I have been told as well that as I  stop  I should start doing some gentle exercise one to keep weight down and two its a great way to demonstrate to your self how much more energy I will have over time as my lungs slowly recover.

Maybe that nurse can help you with the "light gentle exercise" area too.

One goal you should set for yourself is to take all the money you save in the first year and buy yourself a big kickass gaming rig.

You can do it Baldie. I was a 1.5 pack a day guy and I'm 24 years smoke free. You just have to want to do it and have supportive family and friends to help you. Good luck!

If you fail vape like I did and it is easy to quite. IF you just get the fix that is ok... just destroy the habit. Even lighting your lighter is a trigger..... BTW Nicotine is not the problem.. it is the other shit in tobacco that is the problem. I proved it to myself this last time.

Here in the US........ some folks of low income will go pay 50 cents (used to be 25) for one New Port cig. One at a time. They wont smoke anything else. Not the same to satisfy their addiction.

Vape to quite.... not to create a new habit.
