Seriously? whats the idea behind this? was funny for a couple rounds but the damn thing just gives you away. Especially in sudden death at the end of the round.. Can this crap be removed? People in the server really hate it so i dont stand alone when i ask to get rid of it.. One mans opinion.....THANKS

Why? Because I hate campers. Various settings are on low right now for testing to make sure there are no errors. The targeted thing will be raised but its supposed to give you away if you camp like a bitch. And the only people that seem to hate it are those that get caught camping.

As long as it doesn't flat out discriminate against campers as it is a gaming style much the same as people who jump everywhere like a bloody rabbit, spawn storming run and gunners or prone divers. While i understand the reason its being implemented, i have to say we need to be careful not to break our own rule about discriminating against certain gaming styles.

 

But in saying that, everyone needs to remember that Sammy puts a top effort into creating and fixing mods here and this bounty addition is still testing and will eventually be smoothed out to something we can all be happy with.

I agree on the bounty for campers, but 30 seconds is too short. Sometimes when you get stunned, flashed or your screen is flashing red you have to wait sometime. I would say 1,30 is a good time for the bounty.

Considering you will only have to move a distance of 150-200 units in a 60 second window this isnt much to ask. That is less than double the height of a door. Less than the blast radius of a frag. If an assault or specops player refuses to move that far then I have zero sympathy. Especially if this happens many times over the course of a single life. Otherwise only a matter of bonus points, like Avenger. There will be exceptions. Defrosting will cancel any checks. Bounties will not go up during overtime. If other exceptions present themselves I will go through them. The sever should already be up to 60 seconds.

 

Some servers use settings that pretty much require you to constantly run and gun. If you dont it will disable your weapon. I dont like either of those things.

That is a small distance to move to avoid being bountied. The only time i could see that being annoying is in towers or similar, where there isnt enough space physically to move the required distance to avoid being targeted. Unless you drop a floor or leap of faith before the 60 second mark. Bear in mind im a run and gunner so this camping thing doesn't affect me, i am just throwing these ideas out to the wind to try and help smooth it out for our tent dwellers. @@Sammy

camp like a bitch?  still seems discriminatory towards a style of game play which is one of IDIOTS rules.  seems like we r breaking our own rule.  

 how about a money bag for the ones who jump more than three times in a row also.  or one for the constant tubers?

 and what do you mean get Caught camping?  it is like the campers are being punished for their game play style.

Well that's a load of shit cause you don't like campers. Camping is part of the style of war. Head to Afghanistan and don't sneak around or sit in one spot when you're being shot at. I expect you to run at them like bloody hell. You can stand still remember. Let see how far that gets you. If the server is gonna be filled with arcade style crap the server will empty. People were angry about it and was just passing that on but I guess I'm just a camping bitch

I think its a pain.  Many maps i use a sniper.  Its my gaming style.  As said before - within our rules do not pick on players for their gaming style!  This is just that !

Sammy, we ALL appreciate what you do, but, this is a very selfish move if you ask me.  Tailoring one of XI's most successful game to suit your taste in gameplay.  People will drop like flies.

My 2 cents worth.....this does not work well for a freeze tag server....sometimes you have to defrost 2 or 3 from one spot...teamwork idea would be totally useless with this MOD....might as well be a run and gun server....Hate it, hate, hate it.......and by the way.. did I say how much I HATE IT!!!

well if you cant camp, i wont play.. i think its a very wierd way of targeting a part of the game! i dont camp, and i camp. Depending on how many is left on my team.. i think its pure bull to take camping out of the game.. and people knifing campers, sneaking up on them and what do i know... 

And to be fairly honest Sammy. Noone cares what your personal oppinion is.. you have created a lot of great Mods and what do i know! i deeply respect that! and you have always listened to what people had to say creativly (we are idiots, cant help talking shit sometimes ;-) ) but keep your personal likings/preferations out of the picture! 


My 2 cents. this is a family! and noone in a family has the "power" to react and say like that. You can put out your oppinion and make a debate, but doing something just because you want it, aint gonna last long in family/clan/society/ what do i know..

I hope the cash bags go, as I love to camp ,its part off the game some run in some stay in the middle some camp this is freeze tag after all ie team game.

I think it's a good thing there is a anti-camp mod. But maybe it should be turned off for snipers - or giving a longer time before the position gets given away. Same for the last person alive on a team (or even the 3 last)

 

Also, I am not a big fan of the money bag (the idea of getting more points isnt bad) but, what I want to suggest is; whenever someone camps, just put the player on fire, and if he stays in the same area of his camp, then every second he loses 10 hp. 

 

That gives him no other alternative than to move away from his spot (for snipers this can mean they just move to a new sniper spot),, and actually play.

I had that anti - camp mod on my servers when I was running a clan for MOHAA. It worked 

 

I know I am not a member.. (yet) I am just trying to help and giving you my two cents   I just can't stand campers, theres no skill in killing people by hiding in a corner..thats all!

I think there was a discussion topic somewhere but don't have time to look. When you are a developer you try things out - hell i'm not going to tell members or ask members every time I want to change something on this website or before I add a !fu command to the servers. You try things out, experiment to see what works - some people don't like change, some do. You never know until you actually try it and to do that the change has to be made. 

 

I get that in the end what the main playerbase likes/dislikes will usually be implemented but this has to be balanced with the fact that this is an old game and the only reason our servers are still popular is because they evolve and change. Our servers are like the Battlefield series except instead of a new game we bring out a new mod - there will be that transition period of bugs and feature tweaking, but in the end we come out with a great mod.

I haven't played for a couple months so not sure what's going on with the mod but this is not good news for people who like to thaw their teammates.   Often times thawing requires hiding in one spot, especially when you're the last player.
