Anyone familiar with the Spybot antivirus ?

It is in Europe and I was just wondering if it works better than some of the normal ones like McAffee and Norton.

Thanks

Most common Pc tools are Ccleaner, malwarebytes,AVG free version

I have used these for years and have never had any problems

Some others will use resources that will affect your game like norton for sure

I use ccleaner, malwarebytes, and mse. No issues.

Norton and McAfee in my opinion are resource hogs. Haven't really used spybot so I don't have any first hand comments for that one.

I really like ccleaner but it is not recommended for SSD's, so I use it on my hard drive and use Kaspersky on everything else. No complaints so far.

I deal with infected PC's almost on a daily basis. I can tell you that any anti virus software is pretty much useless. 99% of all infected computers do in fact run an up to date anti virus program ... Many even detect 99.99% of all viruses, but not all and most of all not the viruses which are currently around.

If you want to feel saver than with no anti virus, then I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials or just the built in Defender in Windows 8 or higher. Those are free.

If you want to spend some money, get nod32. Takes very little recources, other than that, not better than the others.

Norton and McAfee are the worst.

CCleaner is good, but no anti virus software afaik.

Best security is to be careful.

Just a side note here .....

Run Ccleaner often as these hijackers and malware/adware hides in your cookies and and internet history files

and do so before you run everything else

Yeah, I always used eith AVG or Avast, but they were a bit fat and they had annoying pop ups that kept bugging you about stuff. Microsoft Security Essentials is the way forward.

Malwarebytes

Super AntiSpyware

CC Cleaner

and for anything troublesome programs.... Revo uninstaller

Damn straight.

Most buggs are installed by Email attachments,Pics,Movies,Music downloads AND Ad ware when installing shit.

I use Ad Block+ to block 99% of all popups and I do NOT download Email Attachments.Facebook, twitter ect ect ect is FULL of virus infected crap Just don't download anything PPL have links to.

I do not use Any virus removal software.99% of all nasty Virus's will seek out your virus program and infect IT.Every file up to 128mb I download off of the internet gets scanned VIA an online scanner https://www.virustotal.com/

Yeah AdBlockPlus is highly recommended. Works best with FireFox imo. Really good for YouTube - no commercials!

(Bad for free content on the internet though, service providers can't provide their services for free without showing you ads.)

Exactly.

I don't use AV live scan. Cos I hate how it slows down things often. I only check suspicious files manually. But the online check you suggested might even be better than having an AV program on the computer.

I keep on saying it and shall continue to do so...

If you wish to make an informed decision on your anti-virus cover, refer to comparative test results

such as those at Virus Bulletin, here: https://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/latest_comparative/index

(You'll see that Microsoft's offering is not as good as described above, for example...)

Spybot, as far as I am aware, provides no realtime protection.

If you use Microsoft Office and don't need the macro language add-ons, disable them.

I concur with the advice about attachments, even if they appear to come from people or entities known

to you.

Importantly, ditch Java !  At the very least disable it in your browser.

Keep Flash updated (several vulnerabilities found in that lately).

(See above) Update your operating system.

I agree antivirus software is worthless and why I don't run Antivirus software. I just have malwarebytes running... and I run CCleaner when I need.

This post is SPOT ON.  Read it.  Heed it.

Stop paying for AV "solutions" that don't solve anything but too much cash in your wallet.  Who better to protect Windows than the people who wrote it?  So that means Microsoft Security Essentials for Win7 and the built in Defender for everything above.  It's the user who typically shots themselves in the foot opening something they shouldn't.
