From what I read it seems the actual exploit they are concerned about doesnt apply to dedicated servers anyways just lobbies. But apparently its not just a cod4 problem.

Downloading the iw3mp.exe file in this thread and replacing the one in my Call of Duty 4 folder located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4 Solved this problem for me. Prior to that I did check the game cache and verified the install, so I did lose all my stats as well. Back to level 1 for like the 9th time.

Sorry to hear about that dude ripping you off. Ebay will give you a full refund. DO NOT install that. If you type call of duty 4 modern warfare into the search engine what you typed should be the 1st one on the list.

But someone posted a link in this thread to an iw3mp.exe file you can download from the XI download server. That is the one I used.

sorry guys, I think those of us with Steam (and downloaded the game instead of having a real disc) and COD4 are at this point screwed until at their end they upgrade the game BACK to version 1.7. Some slacky on their end did not know that there was a version 1.7 and only saw it up to version 1.6. What has to happen imho is a bunch of folks complaining to Steam about this and ask for them to PDQ fix it.

@Hunter we have to keep a window open a bit for our malmute as she gets over geated and needs the cool air.usuakky when we Are driving wi does aren't open that wide enough but this just happened to be a moment the weatjervwas no e and opened them when we were close to home. if you roll back your system a couple of days on system restore it loads back up with 1.7 thats what i have just done

Since playing that COD4 map (Bastogne) with the loud music, I liked the guitar licks in it and wanted to see what the lyrics were and find out about the song and HOLY COW it is sad Cool song, but too loud in the game, but it is haunting and artfully beautiful too. I use a VPN Randall but not usually when i am playing games, the only time i have had it on when i have been playing is because i forgot to switch it off the night before, i have read that it can make your games and TV shows lag but i can't say i have noticed that at all, i use mine mostly when i am streaming TV shows and movies, i have my IP address set to Paris so i can shift all the blame on Frenchi

don't play games on a vpn. VPN's can be horrible to your bandwidth.

Some idiot once said here that the Russians coulda beat the Nazis by themselves. Without America's help, our staunchest allies--the Brits--would been starved and bombed into submission.
