Your best bet is to stay in your profession as you'll be classed as an immigrant and it is easier to get in if you have a job to go to or profession, unless you're a refugee. Personally I have never heard that term being used by Canadians. It was used a lot by my mom and dad who were born and raised in Scotland. LOL Yes there are a shit load of homeless in Toronto and surrounding areas. I would say the majority of them are ex military vets. Those are the ones who our gov't refused to help and the people of Canada try to help. In my city a man purchased an entire building (renovated it into a bunch of rooms) just to help our vets. He walks all over the city and talks to the homeless and when he finds a vet he asks him/her if they would like a permanent room to stay in free. His building is just over half full. Not all of the vets he speaks with take him up on his offer but they do visit the building for a free meal when they are hungry. My son noticed a homeless man at grocery store near us. I went out and purchased a back pack and filled it up with necessities and packaged non perishable food and put $20 in it. I told my son to take him for a meal. When my son got home he still had the back pack. He said the guy said all he wanted was money to feed his family. My son thought that was odd so he never gave him the bag. He then watched the dude get into a nice car and drive away. I called the dude out in front of the grocery store for being a liar. He left in his car and we haven't seen him again. After that I personally said I would only help homeless vets. The back pack is now owned by a vet.
