Punkbuster Punkbuster support for Call of Duty: WaW

Evenbalance no longer supports Call of Duty WAW. This does not mean we will be removing Punkbuster - it is still a viable admin tool which provides us with many methods of protecting our servers. It does mean that if you reinstall then the standard PBSetup will be unable to download and setup the files for you. I have therefore added a legacy section to our downloads that will help you setup Punkbuster.

Usually people miss out the PB services as this guide is for the game specific installation. PB Services is a separate installation for all games and is game independent. You can download and run it from here: http://evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php

BUT I managed to make it work. I am not sure how though...

Was it that I run the game as an admin? that I put the PNKBST A and B in high priority in services? That I changed some things in their firewall properties? I have no clue I tried so many things.

I wish there was a guide, *step by step* somewhere, so ppl wont get frustrated and loose time over a silly game

I have seen a couple players come in COD WaW using aimbots, and wall hacks, I am guessing the server / game is not protected from these now?

OK.....I need a working brain. I downloaded and installed both files. Restarted PC and still get pnkbstrA.exe kicks in the FT cod5 server. What to do...

Something is crazy I just got kicked by punk buster from the DM server

I did the PBsetup + legacy, which includes the W@W selection of the 'ADD GAME", installed and stil lgot kicked. But I don't see that pbA or B is running when I look at which processes are running.  In the multiplayer options, I have Punkbuster sset to "yes", so what else??

 

ok worked the second time I ran pb after pblegacy install!!

It doesn't even list WaW in mine so what am i suppose to do? Also I have Windows 8.1 and where is my waw.exe file?

Dean I did this last night. Not sure if what I did was the correct steps but it worked for me.

 

Download the PBLeg.. yea.. install cool all good all ok.

 

Get cod5 file for windows provided... extract and copy to C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\pb\

 

Overwrite all files. Go back in punkbuster and add a game. Point the directory to C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\ and you can see in the drop down CoD5. Choose it then it will download and install the files. Once complete.. run the game.

 

It might be best to copy the files in CoD5 first the install PB so you can save a step. I don't know... as long as it works. Beers was making fun of me last night calling me a hack because I kept getting punked.

I have absolutely no idea how to do this. I uninstalled punkbuster when I first had issues and then tried to reinstall it but it doesn't show up as being there on the "uninstall a program" screen. I do have a "pb" folder in CODWAW folder with 4 files in it though. I never have been computer literate and this all just seems like Chinese to me. I'm so frustrated that I'm ready to throw in the towel on it. I had to reinstall the game a couple of weeks ago because I had a bad virus and did a new install of Windows 7. I didn't think I would run into this kind of issue ever again. It's always easy when you know how to do it.

sure . Its not that hard you start with the pbsetuplegacy file. Place it in a folder on your desk top and unzip it there. then double click the pbsetup.exe say yes to a few things. You then get teh add a game window pull down the tab and select the call of duty world at war game. Then in the game path wind go to c / programfiles x86 / activision /call of duty-world at war. Just make sure theat the world at war folder is highlighted and hit ok. then click add game pb will go look for its update. When its done close the window.

 

Now make another new folder and place the codwaw_win32 zip folder in it and extract it in there. you should get 2 folders and 5 files copy them and paste them into your PB folder in c/ program files x86 / activision / call of duty-world at war / pb your done. Clean up your mess on your desktop and go shoot people Got this from labob when having trouble doing

There are no COD games in the dropdown menu. I have tried this over & over with the same result. I have even tried running a "Legacy" version of PB that is supposed to have COD on it but I get the same thing. This is ridiculous. Is anyone else having this problem? I don't know what to do next.

After extracting and running the pb legacy version it sometimes updates, this removes the legacy games from the dropdown menu. Simply copy the pbgame.htm from the DOWNLOADED archive into where you extracted it overwriting the existing file. That will then allow you to select the game from the dropdown menu.

I've also found that if the cod games do not appear its because PB has been installed so move on to the next step. Which is this.

 then go try getting into the game. Should work for you.

OK. I finally got it right after about 3 hours of tearing my hair out. I ultimately had to reinstall COD WAW with a fresh install of PB to make it work. Thanks to everybody for the tips.
