any medicinal gardeners here?

Some of you probably remember pictures of my garden from past summers but this year I added some medicinal plants for a change.    I started the seeds in the house and then transplanted in June and must say I'm very pleased with the progress so far.  (still waiting to tell for sure but they all look to be female)

The first 2 I put right next to the compost bin and that seems like the best spot        

Any other gardeners here?  I'd love to see your pictures

in illinois and many states its legal with prescription but I think some states have a law you can have /grow enough for ones personal use.something like that I think.,someone could elaborate the specifics better then me here/am I dead wrong?

Be careful Belle, Montana is one of the tougher states on posession and cultivation.

 

In my county in California I can grow up to 30 plants on 100 square feet. I don't use or grow, but I know people who do, and I've seen single plants that can grow up to a couple pounds of finished product. These things are massive like small trees.

No it is not legal, as far as Federal narcotics laws go. It remains to be seen if state laws about it override federal ones. Not fully court tested yet. Currently, under the Obama admin, the law just isnt being enforced in the states that did pass legalization laws. With all the complaints about liberal California from the right wingers there are some definite advantages to living here.

 

edit: BTW, for Trump lovers, he previously loved the idea of legalizing pot entirely as a good thing. But now he has almost done a 180. Makes one think, in the future, what other positions he will reverse course on. I am waiting to see if he is still totally against Bush and Iraq. Or will he pull a Jeb and change his tune. Nobody has asked him yet or he has avoided answering. This debate coming up will be interesting.

You're kidding right? The DEA has busted and shut down dozens of legal medical marijuana dispensaries over the last few years in every state that has legalized it, including right here in good old "liberal" California.  As with so many other things that Obama promised, what he says and what he does are two completely different things. Kind of like "if you like your coverage, you can keep your coverage".

 

Trump hasn't done a 180  on marijuana. He once said in the 90's that he felt all drugs should be legalized, taxed, and controlled. He now sees what has happened in some states like Colorado and has changed his mind about legalizing marijuana federally, but feels that states should still have the right to approve it if they want without federal intervention. He also still feels that "medical" marijuana should be completely legal when prescribed by a doctor.

Federal law trumps State law....pretty much what the Civil war boiled down to. Under our current climate the feds are doing very little to enforce (much like our borders) unless you make to much noise...then they will bust you.

Damage it seems a cardholder can have 4 live plants but the language in the law is written so there's no way to legally purchase seeds or plants and the plants can't be over 12" tall.   For lack of a better word, the whole thing is a big clusterfck.

But yeah like Sammy and AngryJohnny point out, the fed still overrides the state laws anyway.   I like to think they have more important things to worry about then grandma's garden.      Basically the only reason I planted these is because someone gave

me some seeds and as a person who loves to garden I just had to see if they would grow.   I love watching a plant come out of a little seed and become life.....   you're thinking I'm weird (I know) but it's amazing and beautiful and god gave us plants for a reason. That and I have a friend in another state who has multiple sclerosis and cannot get the medicine (pot) he needs.   Truth is it's the only thing that has really helped with his symptoms and I was hoping to stock him up.   (gift, not sale) I would never distribute.    

The plants are really getting too big now and just last night my Dad said he was worried the neighbors might notice so I'll probably have to get rid of them.   Will try to tie a couple down and see if that works before I destroy them.... it'd be a shame not to keep at least one

keep going feed them well but wash them out for 4 weeks before u chop them.

@@Belle there are a few things you can do to camouflage those medicinal marvels . . . hang some small red Christmas bulbs on them and BOOM!  you got some tomato plants  . . .then go buy some tomatoes and take them to your neighbor and tell them you grew them . . .lol

 

The reason your plants are doing do well is because of our bright sun and long days here in Montana and as the days get shorter your plants will reveal their sex and that will happen pretty soon. I dont have any plants growing right now so no pictures but I have grown indoor  and outdoor here in Montana . . . outdoor better in summer and indoor better in winter . . .Duh!   lol 

 

Don't be worried about "the man" knocking at your door they got much more serious problems to to attend to and with just a few plants  . . relax and watch em grow!

 

Marijuana grows very well in most soils and climates as long as it gets water and good sunlight it will thrive, the deciding factor in whether or not the plants get big is the quality of the soil and next to the compost bin is just right as you have seen.

I like to garden  . . it is pretty cool to see a seed grow into the makings of a tasty salad or my favorite  . . .salsa.

I don't agree with many of Trump's positions, but the one thing I do like about him, is that he is NOT a politician and says whatever the hell he wants to. I am so tired of these douche-bag career politicians that will say whatever they need to, in order to get elected..then do the exact opposite. Kind of like our current President. We do not need another pseudo-intellectual elitist as president...that's for sure.

 

As far as cannabis is concerned....there is nowhere in the Constitution that gives the Federal Government the authority to make Cannabis illegal in the first place. Just like we had to pass the 18th Amendment in order to make alcohol illegal (and the 21st to repeal), the same should apply to cannabis. We have gotten so far away from the governing process that was laid out by our founders it is sickening. The States have granted too much authority to the Federal Government and the Supreme Court.

How can you tell the diference? Do the female seeds talk a lot?

ok peeps have a question tada!!!  friends father inlaw has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer,now  prob it inhaling  said  leaf,does anyone know of a way that  this can be done  ie as a oil, so far idea is to distill said plants into propel glycol.......and use it as a skin induced

Male plants dont "bud" they just form pollen sacks (and sit around waiting for a sammich) male plants are not as potent as females.

Once your plants reach around a foot or so cut back the amount of light they receive to say10 hours a day and they will begin to show their sex. The females will produce a little white hair at the base of the leaves and the males a little pollen sack as mentioned earlier. once youdetermine the sex you can pull the males (unles you want seeds) and then resume as much light as possible (24hr light cycle is good) for the females. once your female plants reach the height you want just cut the sunlight again and the buds will form and you should have some good medicine.

Some "experts" claim that pot has no medicinal value .  .well i'm no expert but i do have some hands on knowledge of how pot effects people (your results may vary). First of all is "the Munchies" . . .  .Getting you appitite back after chemo can be a problem for patients and pot helps to give them back the appitite that is so important to recovery. The rest of the effects are relaxation and laughter and we all know laughter is the best medicine.

I'm Sorry to hear aboout your friends father in law . . . . . do whatever you can to make him feel good as you would like others to do for you . . . .good luck.
