Bringing back an old version of the MW2 Freezetag mod

This will be the new server people are redirected to when the MW2 server is full. Its the oldest version of the mod I could find that I still have all the configs for. This mod will not be fixed so if there is an issue with it then you will just have to live with it. We can make some minor tweaks but for the most part the mod is what it is.  Here is the map rotation that will be on the server, this will not be updated every week like the other servers. Maybe once a month or two

Quite a few differences but the main ones you will immediately see are not the alternate weapons but significant gameplay differences. The settings are taken directly from before in the old server. Nothing was changed. So a few notes:

 

Many of the old bugs will likely still be there. Buts its been a long time so I dont remember what they are.

You only have one streak at a time. Use the standard streak button to activate ('6' in stock). Also, use it or it wont upgrade (I think).

Player speed and jump height are slower and lower. In general, gameplay is slower and more tactical in nature.

Spawn protection shorter. No timer.

No EMP defrost.

ACR disabled so the server hopefully wont crash because of it.

Regular defrost is faster. I dont know if you can defrost two people at once (proximity + 'use' button).

'Frozen' overlays so its harder to see.

Perk 1 is the old style with C4 and the rest. So no extra 'inventory' loadout option.

A few streak options not included.

Explosives have a 'spawn delay'.

Going to Fix the ACR? or put the stupid burst fire M16 back in.  Was fun but kinda lame with the Main Battle Rifle being disabled.

 

Does play smoother than MW2 146B9. Maybe because it has less crap?

sniper hitreg is shit on MW2 server.. but this server even more :(

The older one is slower and more tactical due to the settings. Doesnt seem as chaotic and that counts for a lot. In comparison, the current settings are like watching a movie with the first 'fast forward' setting turned on.

Leaving Mod as is, as far as I know.  No fixes, no changes.  There will be some that like it better than MW2 146b9, and some that don't.  :lol:  Something for everyone, hopefully :stuart:

Nope not gonna redo anything and no changes. The earlier settings have a better balance. Not 'crouch' or 'sights up' tactical. But not a r&g bunny paradise either. As for an MBR, the SCAR-H is quite nice.

Why not the ACR mod we had back in 2013 where the ACR did work and moving around didn't feel like I am running uphill in sand (server settings I know). That one was the most popular one we had, even though tried to revive it but clearly we do prefer the modern multi killstreak mod. However, it would make the best redirect server mod. If I want to play a game that is more about tactical realism I would go with Insurgency or ARMA. 

Our mod is fun because of all the non-sense we have in it, like running fast, surviving high jumps, the chaos, the madness, the idiotic fun, the bitching & whining, ok scratch the last one. 

Any wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyys, good deal.

Like Boom said, current players tend to prefer the mayhem and current rules than the way it was in the older severs. They like their cars and all the other goodies.

actually i like both mods, each has its own good things.

i was suggesting if you change the mod on MW2 146beta or whatever its called now - then just put this current version which will be the "old" one then, in the server where ppl get redirected to, so u dont have to do any changes or modifications, just enable ppl to play the mod they played before.

do i describe that right this time? dunno. maybe someone understands my thoughts and translates them to proper english. :P

thx for setting it up, it was really funny to play there, hope i can make it this weekend again. :)

I believe she means we put the same mod on both servers, or well the previous incarnation of the current primary mod we play.

The reason some want the ACR is because, along with its accuracy, there was absolutely *zero* recoil. Not your player view. Not the weapon. Including hip fire. Nothing at all moved other than the tracer rounds.   There is no valid reason on why this was a good thing.

People think the saritch is too easy? The old ACR was the poster child of a noob gun a 10 year old could use and might as well just paste a nice looking piece of paper on your screen. :sofa:

Kickn, we've been playing on this server mostly in the evening so far......when I see a few people in the main MW2 server have gotten re-directed, I try to jump over there with the help of a few other players so that the server stays populated with the re-directs.  Several have made comments to me that they like being re-directed there, as long as there are people to play.  We've had as many as 20 at one time this past week, along with the main server still being completely full.  I'll make sure and let you know when we jump in next time :)
