As many of you know, the reason of my existence lays in a sultry January evening on a dancefloor in Aruba, back in 1989. As @FUNky emptied his 12th glass of tropical cocktails, he finally gained the courage to walk up to my mother and ask her to dance. For obvious reasons, I will not explain any further about what happened that night, but without the cheeky dance moves I would not have been here. Now, 29 years later, I'm returning to Aruba (actually it will be my first visit) to spend six months working as a psychiatric nurse at Respaldo clinica since I heard that I got the job today. I'm very excited about this chance to be a part of expanding and enhancing (if thats the right word) psychiatric healthcare on that beautifull island. My departure is scheduled at the end of April, but I'm trying to start the job in June but for now I'll start in May. It will most likely mean that I have to drop out of COD for that period of time but hey, who cares about a camping piece of crap more or less, right9 points

Damn, sorry I missed XI fest, by having to make an emergency trip to Indiana and then to Texas a week later and then Maryland a week after that, but.... All the OT allowed me to pick up 2 beautiful firearms! The fist is a Panzer Arms bullpup 12 gauge shotgun. Came with cleaning kit, sights and 2-5 round magazines. The second is an absolutely beautiful Springfield Armory M1 Garand. (maunfactured January 1943). Hated to miss the fest, but allowed me to obtain 2 fantastic firearms.7 points

Congratulations Son! You will have a great time in Aruba, there are a ton of hot women there. Have I ever told you about this Dutch chick I met there one January night in 1989? I won't go into too much detail here but she had this thing she did with her tongue... I'll tell you about it later, call me, you definitely want to hear the rest of the story.4 points

Pretty damned sad when you axe a cartoon character that is not politically correct. But blame the Simpsons for caving on it.4 points -

Whatever distracts the most and pits everyone against each other the most leaving a wedge of change. The plan is working perfectly.3 points

I saw an article yesterday saying that the PC crowd are upset that Apu is being axed, and that he should be kept in the series but in a different role. Personally, when I see Apu I see an intelligent, very hard working family man who has battled through a heap of adversity and still come out at the other end smiling. And nope, this PC stuff will never end it will only get worse.3 points

Sorry you feel this way but it is only a insult if you give it that weight...Here in America during the Civil War it truly was brother against brother...Right in my very family they fought from both sides,Both believing in something to fight for...Today there are reminders and the same thing happens here...Some give them weight to be seen a insulting...Truth is as I visit family graves both of the North and of the South I see them as hero,s who for their own personal reasons took up arms to fight and die for what they believed in...That is what built America ! Today you see people from the North coming/moving South demanding Graves,Monuments and Statues to be removed from sight because they themselves have gave weight to something...2 points

I understand, but I have many times stood for your national anthem (one memorable night in the Shannon Hotel Foynes amongst many) I showed respect for your men, please show respect for ours. Soldiers are not politicians, they are doing a job under instructions from politicians, they probably don't like it, but they do it, that does not detract from their bravery and loss. If the Irish still consider the poppy an insult after all these years then it is very sad, and as a nation you are in trouble. The Americans forgave the Germans and especially the Japanese in WW 1 and 2, ditto the Commonwealth, we are now friends. If Eire has this attitude persisting then you will suffer, perhaps a hard border will happen soon regardless, I find it strange that this persists and feel sorry for your country that can't let go of the past. Remember the Western world observes this day (America with Veterans Day) for instance, would you not like to join us? I see no reason you could not celebrate the Easter rising, if it was done in the correct way, applauding the bravery of your countrymen, but remember our country was at the time embroiled in a far larger conflict so do not bring wrongs, which were correct in those times, into a modern scenario and make those soldiers, doing a job, villains, that is quite wrong, and it prevails in Eire. I find your words 'it is an insult' to honour the war dead poor, So why are they ashamed to support the Easter rising I'm interested? , I have far more respect for them than the recent cowardly lot that bombed and maimed innocents deliberately, they fought properly and bravely, your nation should be proud. I read a couple of books on this some years ago, it was very interesting and nothing to be ashamed of, in British terms (Empire) a small blip.2 points

Absolutely right you are missing the whole point of this, the poppy is a salute to the DEAD, i.e. men who gave their lives for a cause, if you want your own Poppy/Shamrock then have one, but do not be disrespectful to our brave soldiers, a lot of your boys fought against tyranny and are included, your attitude is nothing short of disgraceful to your fellow countrymen.2 points

On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 This year it is 100 years since the end of WWI Big Celebrations in small town America will take place to Remember those who went on to fight for Freedom,Some came home and many did not... Lest we forget For the Fallen With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children, England mourns for her dead across the sea. Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of spirit, Fallen in the cause of the free. Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres. There is music in the midst of desolation And a glory that shines upon our tears. They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. They mingle not with laughing comrades again; They sit no more at familiar tables of home; They have no lot in our labour of the day-time; They sleep beyond England's foam. But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight, To the innermost heart of their own land they are known As the stars are known to the Night; As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust, Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain, As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness, To the end, to the end, they remain. For The Fallen was first published in the Times on September 21 1914. Laurence Binyon (1869-1943) wrote it while working at the British Museum, and did not go to the western front until 1916, as a Red Cross orderly. The poem's fourth verse is now used all over the world during services of remembrance, and is inscribed on countless war monuments.2 points
