20 years ago I had to do what was right for my kids. At the age of 23 married and two kids I found that my wife of that time was cheating on me and fucking anything she could get her hands on. I went to the state and had her declared unfit as a mother. I then had to do the thing that hurt me the most and a choice I never wanted to make. I gave up my rights to the court so that my kids would have a mother and a father not just a father working two jobs to make ends meet and never get to see me. Well about 3 years ago I was still sending cards and letters to a file. When my daughter turned 18 the people that had adopted my kids gave her the card. Around New years of 2010 I got a call asking if I was Eric S. and i said yes why? I am your daughter Cassandra. We set up a time and met. Well at that time my son did not want to see me because he thought I threw them away. Two days ago i got a call and he final decided to see me. Wildthing! Reading this brought tears to my eyes! I am so happy you did the right thing for those kids. They will come to understand completely and its so cool that now they can get to know you as the father they have always loved in their hearts! Gats bro!

Sometimes choices can be dificult ones to make but best for all. I'm sure you made the right decision for the welfare of your children. The unconditional love that you must have knowing they could have a better life with a mother and father. You are a saint!

 

I adopted a child from Kiev, Ukraine. He was 14 months old at the time. He is now 8 (turning 9 in may). My wife and I have tried everything we could do to find his parents. I would love for them to know how he's doing and to see pictures. it would be nice to have an open adoption with them. I have names and the region where they lived but with language and being so far away, it's dificult.

 

Not being able to have kids, this has brought so much joy to my home.

And you did the right thing but boy sure that was a very a hard choice to make and harder to live with it over the years wondering and not knowing who they became.
