I can't imagine what all of those people are going through. The guy will go to jail and sit there for years on the tax payer's dime. Tons of witnesses say he's guilty but he still gets his day in court............whenever that may be. Even if he gets the death penalty, he still stays alive for years and years. He will have medical care, internet, cable and free education while the victims continue to struggle. I have real issues with all of that stuff. I say kill him as soon as he's found guilty. As for it being a tragedy, I like the way someone put it on Facebook: "Thinking about and saying prayers for the victims and their families in Aurora, Colorado. From the massacre that happened there. Sorry, it was a heinous, criminal action that caused a massacre. Not a tragedy. A tragedy is a flood, a tornado, someone through who no fault of their own losing control of their car and plowing into people as a result. What happened in Colorado was premeditated and no accident. Completely avoidable due to one young man's poor exercise of self control." Edited July 20, 2012 by BurningBright coolmd, snakepliskin, BigPapaDean and 2 others 5 Awards

Think on this It is dark in the theater The asshole threw a smoke grenade in there There was hundreds of people clamoring to get out I would be more afraid that someone gets their piece out and fires and hits another innocent bystander while trying to do the right thing. How would you feel if you were that person and found out that in your attempt to end this coward;s shooting spree you shot some person's 14 year old kid in the back while he/she was trying to escape I fully support the right to defend yourself. In fact I think morons like this would think again if they thought there were people in there who might be armed. You don't see one of them barging into a Police Station and opening fire - why, because they are cowards I just think a crowded movie theater would be one of the worst places to have a gun battle with a worthless fucker like this Now I do believe someone should walk into his cell, tie his ass up so have can't run away and slowly kill him so he can experience some of the terror he created in those movie-goers. On another note, I see that a Paris Movie theater canceled their showings once the Colorado incident happened. Can someone please explain why a shooting incident 4000 miles away in a country full of guns would cause the movie theater in Paris ( a country where I believe guns are rather hard to come by) to cancel their showings. The only meaningful and positive reaction to a horrific event such as this, I agree. I'm sure the various reactions voiced in this thread are common around the country and the world, reflecting the shock, grief, anger and puzzlement that always follows a massacre of the innocent. I think it is inevitable that both sides of the gun debate will have their say but it won't bring back those killed or heal the wounds of those that have survived. The fact is that the founding fathers made that great nation's bed and, for better or for worse, the American public have to sleep in it. Countries such as my own, that have strict gun control laws, are not immune from similar mass homicides - Hungerford (1987) and Dunblane (1996) are examples, the latter involving the killing of 16 schoolchildren and 1 adult. Not granting licences/ permits to people who have suffered mental health problems in the past may/may not be a preventative measure as the human mind is a strange thing and a previously untroubled individual can suffer an abrupt breakdown or illness triggered by various factors. All I would say is that a great evil has occurred and all the fantasising about what one would do to the perpetrator just feeds evil further. It's hard, I know, but why not focus on the plight of the victims and their families, pray for them, support them and radiate your love and compassion. They need all the help and prayers that can be given to get through this experience. coolmd and BigPapaDean 2 Awards

I had my gun with me the last time I went to the movies and they had a state authorized sign ,big as life, that took the right away in their building. You see, there is a specific sign, that if it is posted in certain places, you cannot take your gun. I had to turn around and go lock my gun in my car. Sure, I could have taken it in with me, but I was not going to do that and get myself into trouble. Too bad, when you see something like this happen. I would have taken that piece of trash out.
