If the contents of the phone and emails could be used in a criminal suite I would definitely turn it over to the authorities. Be careful trying to "hack" into a iPhone it could completely reset the phone back to Factory settings and you'll loose everything on it. I had to "hack" the 6th gen 32gb ipod touch I bought off of ebay. I got it for $30 shipped because it was iCloud Locked with unknown battery condition. Battery is fine but I had to Jail Break it to get it to work. iPods and iPhones use the same IOS. My iPod has a Jail broke version of IOS 8 on it. You can get into a iPhone with the USB Data cable and hook it to a PC to retrieve images but you can't retrieve email messages that way. Be careful trying to "hack" into a iPhone it could completely reset the phone back to Factory settings and you'll loose everything on it.
