Mine came from Disc Operating System.Before we had Windows.Dos does not stand for 2.Remeber you had to load in the disc and type C:/dir or something like that and look for the exe setup to load a game.Then Windows 95 came out.But I kept the Dos name.John is my real 1st name.

but that probably wouldn't find much of interest since that's looking for exe files on the root of C:. Maybe some thing more along the lines of

In the late 80s I played a MUD called End of the Line. (www.eotl.org). There was a running inside joke where a player on there accidentally typed "Bogleg" instead of boggle. One of the wizards on the MUD (the wizards were the programmers of the game and any player could become a wizard and get the ability to program objects and areas by making rank) made an emote for "bogleg". When you typed bogleg on the console it would say, "Soandso boglegs at the concept." My MUD username was Wintermute, which is the name of one of the AIs in the book Neuromancer. Anyway, when I started playing LAN based Duke and later Internet based Quake in the mid 90s, I started using the name Bogleg. So yeah, my name is originally a typo for Boggle.

I started online playing before there were computers. LOL....... Used Thinblade for fantasy games then found COD. Joined the Biohazd clan who had a rule about using a biohazard type name. I chose Your Sex Life. Played there for a couple years then quit the clan as it was going downhill. Found a different clan and joined it. Probably the idiotic move ever. I chose Darth Yoda because a friend and I are both Star Wars fans. And it pisses him off that I joined "forces" using both sides of te conflict!!

My name came from the old Macromedia Flash animation software. I was pretty much obsessed with it and by 2000 when Actionscript was introduced, I was basically hellbent on making full flash websites. I didn't actually get rid of the obsession until around 2005-2006 when I started doing more hybrid work (and even work leaving flash completely out). I also went by Solaris in most of the games I've played, specifically in AoE:RoR in MSN Gaming Zone which closed its doors in 2006 (can't believe it's been gone for 6 years now...)

 

Would be a hoot if anyone here ever graced the lobbies of the zone.

Back in the 90's I played Delta Force online and my name was "SteakKnife" because i used the CQB knife perk. Players would always refer to me as "Steak" when typing messages to me (before headsets) and I eventually shortened my name to just "Steak".
