Hey all, I know there has been some discussion on brands of headsets that people prefer but am looking for not just that but what others find better for sound during gaming as well as comfort. I wear glasses so ear pad comfort me is a must.  For those that have used both digital USB connected headsets and analog RCA plugins, which have you found to be best for both input and output or any noticeable difference at all? Oh, and to add, cost effective as well so I don't need to rob a bank. :-P

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I've gone thru quite a few headsets and my favorite by far is the Creative HS-1200 wireless.   Very comfortable and good sound quality.  I just use usb so not sure about any difference there.

I'm on my second pair of Sennheiser headsets.  The first was absolutely awesome, except for the in-line volume control which was a little cheap and became kind of weird after I accidentally spilled some water on it.  Never liked having that little blob in the cord anyway.  Too easy to accidentally snag when moving around.  Be wary of those in-line controls.

My current headset is the Sennheiser PC 360.  Totally awesome.  Volume control on the ear cup and the mic mutes when you fold it up over your head.  Audio quality, although only stereo, is totally amazing!  And comfortable enough to wear all day and listen to music.  I wear reading glasses occasionally and they are not a problem with this headset at all.

One thing about this head set is that I paid $180 and they are currently about $215.  Might want to wait and see if they are lower in a few weeks or something.  Not sure if Amazon has a price watch function.  They should.

I have tried at least a dozen different headsets and I have given up on them a long time ago. I am currently using a pair of Sony's TMR- RF970R wireless headphones and a 3 dollar mike I bought at my local dollar store. They work pretty good and don't break down

I would also suggest the Sennheiser PC 360's as someone did earlier in the post. They aren't cheap but you get what you pay for with headphones normally. Great sound especially when playing fps games as the directional sound is very good, meaning that you can hear which direction footsteps are coming from easily. I've heard that the Audio Technica headphones are also very good for gaming, although I haven't used them personally.

Here is a link for some headphone reviews: http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-updated-2-18-13-audeze-lcd-2-added

As for the analogue vs USB question, if you have a dedicated sound card then I would definitely use analogue as they can be plugged directly into the card for better sound (when using USB you are bypassing your sound card). If you are using the on-board motherboard sound then it doesn't matter which you buy really. I would recommend getting a sound card though as you will get much better sound than the on-board can achieve.

I don't agree , I have come to conclusion that I like Analog head sets better , Even if you have on board sound , the on board sound has got much better , Plus when using usb have to use either windows sound drivers or the drivers that came with the head set and they give you a completely sound  that i just couldn't get used to.

Yes, I like analogue headsets better too, and you are right about the drivers. The on-board sound on a motherboard is better these days, but is still no where near as good as a dedicated card.

I'd like to throw in some input regarding headsets that I have. For both listening to music and games, you got to get a soundcard. Then, you will distinguish between great sounds and bad noises.  On-board audio chips mobo are usually NOT great overall. Unless you have an extremely very high-end mobo. I have senheiser pc 350 ($150), razor carcharias ($80), creative fatal1ty ($75), asus stx ($180), asus dx ($80). Any combination of those is great.  For price/performance, you can't go wrong with asus dx soundcard and razor carcharias.
