Battlepack and you get a legendary skin or something it asks if you want to cash it in for 270, so you save 900 just to cash them in for 270....fucking crazy, it is a very good game but the weapons rank ups and Battlepacks are probably the worst i have seen in Battlefield. If the game is still any good by then for when I pick up ultimate edition for $25 or so. It's rare I pay full price for a game. The last game I paid full price for was Tom Clancy's The Division... Huge mistake. Before that it was Metro Last Light. I do not regret paying full price for metro. Still the best single-player campaign I have ever played. If my friends want to be idiots and spend $120 on a brand new game go ahead, I will wait until it is 80% off which is 120 x .80 = $96. Which for me income isnt much. And now a couple monthly bills will be going up. We also do have to keep in mind that making DLC isnt free. Especially since things like maps are vastly more complicated than in the cod4/5 days. The developers have to pay many millions to create and distribute it all. The real question however is whether or not certain things, that in the past went into the base game (not updates), are already made and ready to go but held back to sell you later in DLC. There have been cases where the content is already there and, in players view, paid for but locked. I dont know if they do this practice anymore however. I really enjoyed it but by time it was at a price I could afford to spend on a game, most friends were up to some high level then BF4 came out, everyone moved on and no more BF3 so I haven't played BF since. Now BF4 will get replaced and so on but too much money on these games to get replaced so quickly. I'll stick with my codwaw, bought and paid with years of enjoyment. For me, its not all about the latest and greatest but the time with friends. And I still enjoy the game.
