he has not been on servers or in forums for some time now,,does anyone know where or how to find out if he is ok?? He has been a regular in cod5 and just dropped off the earth!! hopefully he is ok!

Many of you will be aware that, following a cardiac arrest in October 2018, I suffered an acquired brain injury, firstly described as a stroke but, after a formal complaint about my lack of treatment, modified to a hypoxic brain injury. Basically, this means my brain was deprived of oxygen for 15 minutes causing permanent damage. I had to stand down from Admin duties as my perception of reality was different to an uninjured person's and I was prone to seeing things. I was provided with no therapy or rehab to assist me and my online games proved invaluable in measuring how badly I had been affected. I was half as good as I was pre-cardiac arrest but I thought I could improve with further practice. Sadly, this has not been the case and I am just serving as a slow-moving target to my fellow players. Like my daily Scrabble playing online, that I gave up last year, I must step away from the battlefield now and spend my time on more enjoyable and productive pursuits that are less destructive to my battered ego. This understanding has come slowly and only with the help of Headway, The Brain Injury Association of which I am now a "Friend". I would like to thank you all for your friendship and understanding as I have fought this personal battle. However, it is one I cannot win so I must go gracefully. I am not hanging up the tags, having worn them for over a decade - 11 years this month - but you will not be seeing me in the games servers much if at all. Farewell.

Sometimes if your sound settings are set a certain way. The game will crash on start up until you plug in your head phones. If this is the case, it will crash everytime.. not sometimes. But sounds like you already reinstalled. I would do what they're recommending. Get the patches from the Xi download section and PB as well. And yes, PB for cod4 isn't supported anymore. But you can still install it. Some, not all.. but some servers still require it to join their server. Also, sometimes the mod patch for servers can be corrupt or missing files. Simply go in your cod4 folder and find where the mods are located. Delete the file for that mod. Then rejoin that server to reinstall that mod.

It "feels suspicious" when they are trying to get perfectly healthy young people to take the vaccine for something that has almost no risk to them. This is easily explained by fear and greed however. Fear because "everyone must get the vaccine for everyone to be safe" which is really just a ruse for fattening wallets. Even if all the usual protocols were followed, how long does it take for antibody dependent enhancement to develop? Prion disease? Autoimmunity? What about the narcolepsy that hundreds developed after the swine flu vaccine 10 years ago? Maybe these effects would have shown up by now, I haven't taken the extra step of researching this as personally I have no plans on getting vaccinated. I do hope the vaccine is very successful with minimal complications. Very few medical interventions are without risk though. So where you are on the continuum of risk should play a role in your choosing whether to receive the vaccine or not. I see a lot of people say they'd rather have vaccine side effects for a day or two than the virus. Well how about if you are 20 and the virus is a slightly raised temperature for a few days and not much else or the risk of lifelong narcolespy (hypothetically)? Not really a good trade off. The decision is perhaps more difficult in the 50-60 range where risk somewhat increases relative to those that are younger.

I was very saddened after reading how things have got with your health DJ and as others have said and others will say "You are and always will be a Member of XI (The Family)". Regardless of if you play or not just the fact that you are still here and fighting to be able to enjoy your life is a blessing to us all. There are plenty of dumb shits posting here that need you to tell them to bugger off and more. I hope that some how you are able to find peace and happiness with whatever you decide to pursue in place of your gaming but just remember there is nothing but old fucks like me playing on the COD2 servers and we are all just slow moving targets for each other so if you stop by for a game you might just see lots of easy kills. You have no reason to ever drop your TAGS and I give you my word I won't let anyone ever take them away from you if they are stupid enough to try. Many of us have been through too much watching this Clan grow into a huge loving dysfunctional FAMILY and after 11 years of being a great Member, Admin, Gaming Adversary, Mentor and Friend you have earned the right to retire with FULL HONORS. PS Rugger mismanaged the retirement party funds years ago so all you can offer is our Love and Friendship and maybe a few more Medals LOL. Take Care of yourself and hit some of the boys on your side of pond up for the free beers they will be happy to buy you when they can see you. The risk of serious complications may well be minimal or non-existent. I see no reason to take the chance at this stage. They said Pandemrix was safe before it was taken off the market. Why were the serious life altering side effects (for a small minority) not discovered during the clinical trials before it was brought to market? Does the human species understand physiology well enough to say with absolute certainty that "x" treatment won't cause complications? I don't get medical interventions to protect others. If they want protection, they can take the vaccine themselves if they think it is a good idea. For the small minority that can't, sorry still not doing it. I haven't seen the massive drive for personal responsibility in all this to reduce obesity rates for example, which is a major risk factor for dieing from coronavirus.

All I know is when you take some humans and inject fear and greed, the chances of something going wrong skyrocket. To me the individual needs to weigh up their own risk associated with contracting coronavirus and decide if the vaccine is a good idea for them. Telling a perfectly healthy 20 year old that has a minuscule risk to take any of the vaccines that from certain perspectives appear to have been rushed to market seems shortsighted. Iatrogenesis is real, there is no reason to risk potential life long complications if your risk is very low. On the other hand if you are an 80 year old diabetic heart disease patient it's probably a worthwhile risk.
