but it appears to me that pb is not even interested in investigating this issue or even trying to rectify their mistakes...so guess alot of people just got fukd...must be an activision thing to make more money counting on more ppl needing to buy more games from them...just my conspiracy theory..lol...but serious tells me pb has lost control of their shit..

Guys current speculation is that the bans have something to do with the razor mice drivers. Currently everyone I have spoken to with the a ban has a razor mice (or driver at the least). It is just speculation for now but it seems plausible. Any banned players here that don't have any razor products/drivers on their computer that have been banned for AIMBOT #50710 anyways, please respond.

A list of bans by PB, check the reoccurance of aimbot 50710 in the past days..

http://www.pbbans.com/mbi.php

Also it seems that sniper and freezetag servers are getting hit the hardest by these issues. But I cannot stress enough that everything we have to go on is speculation at this point, as punkbuster seems to be giving no responce regarding the ongoing issues!

Interesting, from the PB site......

There have been 65 ban(s) in the past 24 hours.                There have been 882 ban(s) in the past 30 days.

It looks like are 29 PB bans on an average day, but with this mess, there was 65 bans in a 24 hour period.......what is their reasoning that the avg. number of bans has doubled in the last 24 hours?  They suck.

A legit explanation for the increased bans could be that Evenbalance is executing bans against players that have been caught from silent logging. Silent logging is used in two situations, the first is when they do not want a banned player to know when they were detected and the second is when a new detection has been worked on and is now being changed to instant bans, at this point they would be banning anyone logged using the hack in the past month in one day.

By no means saying that these bans are legit or not.. just saying it has been known to happen and with higher numbers in the past.

Just throwing this out there...PB has been known to generate faulty bans. When they know they're at fault (and trust me, the community will let them know), the bans were lifted. Can't say whether or not this is the case, and you certainly shouldn't get your hopes up, but don't go buying a new game just yet.

A legit explanation for the increased bans could be that Evenbalance is executing bans against players that have been caught from silent logging.

This is probably one of the few remaining tools EB has against hack sites. Keeping them on their toes and racking up large groups of users under the same ban code is a good way to deliver a punch to those making a killing. Unfortunately those same folks also run illegal cd key racketing sites, so you ban them one day and they're back with a new key the next day. Wish I had that kind of money... Edited by flashadvocate

desactive pb in freeztag server?

Well, if they pb screws up like this, it could be a possibility. This time it is us, next week someone else. If you can't thrust the system it becomes worthless! Is pb already working for ppl using windows 8?

There are some clans who give there admins good training to detect cheaters and don't rely on the system anymore. If pb doesn't improve fast then I see a future in doing it all by yourself!

Btw: check my stats! If I had a aimbot I can't have stats that bad unless i would have been playing with my feet....

I made a ban appeal with pb and this is what I got as a reply:

Note #2: The supplied GUID has been associated with hacking or interfering with the normal operation of our PunkBuster software and has therefore been compromised resulting in a global ban from PunkBuster enabled game servers. We have no way of knowing who was actually playing with this GUID at the time the violation was triggered. We also have no way to know if the violation was triggered on your specific computer. Our system does not collect personal information and furthermore we have no way to attach a cheat/hack violation to a specific person. This ban will not be lifted as then the person who did trigger the violation would again be able to join PunkBuster Servers using this GUID.

To be clear: we are not saying that you cheated as we have no way to know who triggered the violation. If it is certain that no one playing on your computer ever had a cheat/hack violation triggered by PunkBuster, then your GUID (cdkey and/or game account password) has been stolen by or leaked to someone who has used it on a different computer to trigger the violation. We do not have the means to help you find out who is responsible for compromising your GUID.

I have to say this totally sucks. When pb starts to ban ppl who have been fighting cheaters, where is this going? I think they are on there way to make themselves useless, because you can't trust pb anymore. This time it is me and a few others, who will it be next week? This is not funny!

With other words, I have to buy a new game to get a new guid. But, it will always be linked to having used a cheat. Which i NEVER did!!!! I am really pissed and can't believe this is happening. Can someone wake me up? What a nightmare :(

If I would buy a new game will you every allow me to play again on your server?

guess that decision will have to be up to the senior admins here..just make an appeal post in the appeals section..post everthing u have here and see what happens...

Best we can do is look into this and in no way can we remove the bans. Our servers stream so as soon as (if we did) remove a ban it would be reinstalled.  And in no way will we circumvent the streaming. If we do pbbans will remove our streaming status.  This is on EB and PB to solve the issues they are having.

This is scary. I'll avoid any PB activated server until this has been solved by EB/PBB. They may lift the bans, but won't clear the history for any GUID. I bet.

Crazy that it began on Microsoft's patch day. Maybe there is...

I was just doing a bit of light reading about Punkbuster. As it turns out, they have two .exe files that are constantly running on all of our computers and scanning all files, not just those related to gaming. During these scans it records the serial numbers of hard drives on your PC and transmits them as encrypted data to the PB servers, so if you get banned and even if you get a new game with a new GUID, you will still be on their ban list.

Because it runs constantly, it is a real problem for some people especially with older PC's because it eats up RAM and slows down performance.  In case any of you have ever tried, it's impossible to remove PB from your PC without manually going in and deleting files from your registry. It's still on my PC from the old days on COD2 and I've never been able to remove it. Whenever I see it running on my task manager I make a point of turning it off to improve performance.

The hardware bans are only performed when a hacker attempts to modify or interfere with the punk-buster processes.

Yes it runs constantly and yes your right the 504K of memory its taking up couple cripple a older system *sarcasm* [Value taken from current usage on my PC]

Have you ever tried going into your control panel => add/remove features.. easiest way to remove it.. and surprisingly not impossible.

Also you cannot store files in the registry, the registry holds data but cannot store executable files - it is a data registry.

Of course I did duc, removing it through the control panel was the first thing I did, and the program is no longer visible on the program list. The problem is that PnkbstrA.exe and B are still running processes when I look at my task manager. Fortunately I don't have one of those antique computers that get bogged down with a little extra memory in use, and I'm not comfortable with my abilities to start fucking around in the registry and deleting hicky/local anything files. So I let it run and try not to think about it.
