Which TV news Station do you prefer to watch to get informed about things going on in the world?

CNN,NBC, FOX,CBS,  . . .  .?

What went in to your decision? . . . . , was it because the anchorwomen/ anchorman was hot?

Or is it because you have watched that station your whole life and think its the most unbiased and delivers the news in a way you can understand it?

Whatever the reason . . .please tell us the station and explain why you prefer that station.

Thanks and Happy holidayze    :santa:

None. Of the 24/7 channels they all have a right or left bias to different degrees. CNN isnt all that bad... considering the competition... but still not worth watching.  Its like saying piss is better than puke.

Fox/msnbc are polar opposites and hard line. I have to laugh when avid viewers of each call them 'fair and balanced'. I wont watch the rhetoric, the yelling, the holier than thou attitudes, the beliefs that if you dont think the way they do then there is something wrong with you in the brain. Far left channel? Bordering on communism. Far right? Bordering on fasicm. They might as well stop calling themselves the news and register as political parties. The fox candidate controlled by the right. The msnbc candidate controlled by the left. And like any good politician they tell their viewers/supporters what they want to hear for ratings/votes.

Nuff said.

Fox 32 in the morning for traffic & weather. Used to watch channel 2 Chicago, but after Randy Salerno was killed in a snowmobile accident, the news team was broken up and never the same.

Lately, we click on TCM or HGTV, because the network news sux over a cup of coffee.

No news station is unbiased, but Al jazeera and BBC are as close as you can get.

I watch local news and get my national and world news from the web.  ALL network and cable news hand feeds us what they want to in order to shape our opinions to their way of thinking.  I prefer reading it all (good and bad) then forming my own opinions. Current events are an excellent example. The networks focus only on instances of white cops shooting black people, but completely ignore the hundreds of other shootings that took place at the same time that didn't involve opposing races. Creating drama is good for ratings and that's all they're interested in doing. One of the scariest things is that most people aged 18-49 watch Colbert and Jon Stewart and actually believe they are watching news instead of carefully scripted comedy.

Ten years ago the major news outlets spent most of their on-air time picking apart every little thing our president did, and now ten years later those same news outlets spend all of their time not reporting what our current president does unless it's some fluffy feel-good news piece.  All of the negative stuff gets overlooked or swept under a rug.

So yeah, fuck the news.

Don't watch any network news. I do watch like O'Reilly for commentary because I think Charles Krauthammer is brilliant but that's about it.

that because government forcing all media outlet to not make him look bad...so instead they make jokes bout him...like week or so ago ...he was departing whitehouse in his heli...he made pilot wait while he darted back in to retrieve his cell phone...i mean really ? the media saw this as news? come on man....media is junk why i pay it no mind...

Sorry Ter, Comedy Central only counts as one news source and where the majority of Canadians get their information on what is happening in the US. :popo:

The purpose of this thread is to get an idea of why people watch certain news channels.

If FOX is "fiction" as Mr Pete says then why would anyone watch them?

Could it be because some people want to hear the news the way FOX presents it?

MSNBC has been accused being somewhat left in the way they present the news . . .so I assume that would be a choice of someone who embraced Liberal ideals

Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report like @@little_old_man says is "scripted comedy" and shouldn't even be considered a news source but some people prefer to get their information in a way that makes it seem like major news events are just a joke and could really care less.

The news should be the same for everyone and not divided into liberal, conservative, fantasy. The Truth is the truth is the truth!

By dividing the country and how it views news events you have weakened the power of the people  . . . . Divide and conquer.

It appears to me that people (I have asked other people in my town this question) who are interested in knowing  . . .. or at least in trying learn the truth about events (since the whole story it seems is never fully told) will watch several different channels and make up their own mind as to what really happened. Still their  are others that despise TV news all together and will just use the internet.

While informally polling friends and neighbors about their TV news preferences I heard comments about how so many people are uninformed or have formed an opinion based on biased TV news reports.

If news sources TV, internet, newspapers delivered the news stories without bias and opinion the outcome of elections could be much different.

The Founding Fathers  (you know the guys that wore hip white curly wigs) wanted the role of the press to be one that policed the actions of government officials and reported the misdeeds without fear of retaliation.

The President, Members of congress and other appointed government officials have shown disrespect to the Constitution and the people of this country. Recently a sound bite of a speech given by an adviser/ co author of The Affordable Care Act was revealed and in it he stated "most Americans are too stupid" to understand the healthcare plan and "we can get the healthcare plan approved and into law before most people and congress can figure it out".

U.S Representative Nancy Pelosi also worked on the Affordable Care Act and when she was asked to comment on the speech she said "she didn't know him  so couldn't comment" How could she not know him when they both worked on putting together the healthcare plan? Did Ms Pelosi Lie?   If that isn't a story that should be exposed and investigated thoroughly then what is?

It appears to me that the press has strayed from its role as government watchdog entirely.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, scandalous behavior all over the country by government officials going unreported and instead we get a story about Justin Bieber throwing eggs at someones house!

The people of this country have relied upon the press to keep them informed and without complete in depth and accurate information the people/voters can't make the choices needed to keep the country from going to hell.

The press has an important responsibility to the American people and the future of our country,  so how can the people pressure the Media to make them return to the job of government watchdog this country needs desperately?

There is no source of news that can be relied on that is unbiased or can be counted on for complete in depth truth . . . . none.

The effectiveness of the presses ability to expose wrongdoing in government been ruined by the need for the news organizations to make a profit . . .Big Profit

There are so many problems that are changing the course of this country and when you start to get to the root of what is causing the problems you begin to see just a handful of culprits responsible for it all and It looks to me that the press and the way it's abandoned its role as government watchdog deserves a huge amount of blame. The policy's . . .AKA problems of this country are rooted in Washington  and influence the whole country and how policy is written down to the local level and we all know shit runs downhill.

As For:

Porn hub and the Playboy are straight up news channels and always get to the point quickly and then . . . .  .  the viewer needs a sammich . . .lol

Ok, take it easy ladies... I Knew that would upset some sensitive feelings and I was only kidding. The reality is most watch a specific news source because they tell them they want to hear.

Excellent post leadfinger. The comments on the ACA by one of it's architects was a great example. FOX broke the story and none of the 3 major networks said a word about it. Why is that unless they're protecting the president. Lying about something to convince the American public it's a good idea is what the democrats said that GW Bush did to get us into Iraq and many were yelliing for impeachment. Obamacare is an even bigger boondoggle than the Iraq war and it appears that we were lied to in order to make it a law. Where is the outrage?

About 18 months ago, I realized that I had to stop watching so much news.  The things going on this world, especially the US, were staying on my mind all the time and it was eating me up.  I decided that I'd rather not know than to let it consume me.  Realistically, I realized that I couldn't believe anyone and I absolutely do not trust the American government.  I preferred Fox News when I watched though.
