  2. Grew up on the St. Lawrence River in a small town across from Prescott, Ontario. All my family - and my wife's - are French Canadian from the Montreal area and I just discovered that I have direct relationship to a saint. My great aunt, daughter of my ninth great grandparents, Christophe Dufrost de la Gemerais, who descended from an old noble family in France, and Marie Renee Gaultier, daughter of Rene Gaultier, governor of Trois-Rivieres, was Saint Margaret D'Youville. She founded the Gray Nuns of the Sacred Heart and was canonized by Pope John-Paul II in 1990, the first native-born Canadian to be declared a saint. Shortly, I will be offering Indulgences for a small consideration. Meanwhile, go forth, yee Idiots, and sin no more.

    Tattooed Gamer

Greetings from Virginia! It's been a long time since I've joined anything this Xtreme, so I figured I'd introduce myself to everyone! I love tattoo's and I love video games, so I put them together to become TattooGamer online. With that being said, I currently have 2 sleeves, my chest and half my back tattooed. I'm 26 years old and finishing up my bachelors degree in IT. I first started getting into IT when I was 11 years old when I took my fathers computer apart, I was told I'd get a rash I'd never forget, so I put it back together hit the power button and everything worked as expected. Ever since then I've been fascinated with computers and how they work. This winter I'm going in for certifications in A+, Network+, and Security+. Outside of working part-time I enjoy playing all sorts of different games, as well as thinking of ways to make games different from which they were originally designed for. My favorite games are Witcher 3, Skyrim, Fallout, Minecraft, and Portal. If you're a Skyrim lover, I'd be pleased to announce that I will be dropping a new player home mod in October if you'd be interested in checking it out. Apart from gaming I enjoy wilderness camping, hiking, fishing and kayaking and anything that presents a challenge. I'm more often than not always up to help anyone in need. I consider myself fairly friendly, down to earth, and enjoy good company with the right people. I hope to get to know most of you guys and hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Thanks for looking! 12. Donald Smirthwaite, adjustor Standish Insurance Company, Inc. 473 Ogallala Ave Sioux City, IA 51101 Re: Claim no. 54784 (More detailed explanation) Dear Mr. Smirthwaite: I am writing in response to your request for additional information. In block number three of the accident reporting form, I put, quote ... poor planning ... unquote, as the cause of my accident. You said in your letter that I should explain more fully and so I trust that the following details will be sufficient. I am a bricklayer by trade. On the day of the accident, I was working alone on the roof of a new six-story building. When I completed my work, I discovered that I had about 500 pounds of brick left over. Rather than carry all of the bricks down six flights of stairs a few at a time, I decided to lower them in an empty barrel someone had left behind, using a pulley which was conveniently attached to a projecting beam on the side of the building at the sixth floor. First, I procured a stout rope twice as long as the height of the building at the sixth floor and threaded it through the pulley. Then I rigged a sling for the barrel, attached it to the rope, and went down and secured the rope at ground level to a small tree, with a slip knot. I then went back to the roof, swung the barrel out and carefully loaded the bricks into it. They all went in nicely. Then, quite pleased, I went back to the ground and pulled the slip knot loose, holding the rope tightly to ensure the slow descent of the 500 pounds of bricks. The next sequence of events occurred in much less time than it takes to relate them. You will note, in block number eleven of the accident reporting form, that I weigh 145 pounds. Thus I was unsuccessful in slowly lowering the barrel of bricks. As soon as the rope was untied, I was propelled upward at an astonishing velocity. Dazed at being jerked off the ground so suddenly, I momentarily lost my presence of mind and forgot to let go of the rope. I proceeded at a rapid rate up the side of the building. In the vicinity of the third floor, I collided with the descending barrel, which explains the fractured skull and broken collarbone. Slowed only briefly, I continued my rapid ascent, stopping only when the fingers of my right hand entered the pulley, explaining the contusions and abrasions of the fingers. Fortunately, by this time I regained my presence of mind and was able to hold tightly to the rope despite the pain of my injuries, which you can imagine. At precisely that moment, however, the barrel of bricks hit the ground. Did I mention that it was an old wooden barrel? Anyway, the bottom burst, spilling all the bricks. Devoid of the bricks, of course the barrel became considerably lighter. I refer you again to my weight in block eleven, 145 pounds. As you may imagine, I began a very rapid descent down the side of the building. Again, in the vicinity of the third floor, I met the now empty barrel coming up. This accounts for the multiple contusions and the lacerations to my legs and lower body. The encounter with the barrel slowed my fall barely enough to lessen my injuries when I fell into the pile of bricks, resulting, fortunately, in only three cracked vertebrae and badly sprained ankles. I am sorry to report, however, that, as I lay there on the bricks, in agony, unable to stand and watching the empty barrel six stories above me, I'm afraid I again lost my presence of mind and let go of the rope. Which explains the internal injuries, broken ribs and upper body lacerations. I hope this explanation will suffice for your office. Have a nice day! Yours sincerely, Bjorn Luzer

  17. So Monday at work I experienced some chest pain. Tuesday I walked into Spectrum Emergency Care and was admitted. Wednesday at about 9:30 am I had a heart catheterization preformed and it was discovered that a main artery was over 70% blocked. A stent was installed through my wrist. I am so thankful to have saved my own life. Thank you guardian angels! I snapped this photo from my room.

  23. New toy: a ~$100 MIDI controller. These are normally used as a music mixer for live music, DJ-ing, etc. My usage for it is quite a bit different: Image editing. The application that I use for image cataloguing and basic camera RAW image editing is LightRoom, from Adobe. Using a free plugin for LightRoom called "MIDI2LR", I've mapped the controller's dials, sliders, and buttons to LightRoom tools. It's easy. The first time I plug in the controller and once in LightRoom, I activate any control on the pad and MIDI2LR opens a dialog that lets me choose from organized menus which LightRoom tool I want to associate with that control. The process is very intuitive. I mapped it out in advance and had it set up in a few minutes. I only have to do this once and save the mapping file. The dials, in rows of 8, I've set for red, orange, yellow, green, aqua, blue, purple, and magenta adjustments. The adjustment rows are for adjusting those colour's Hue, Saturation, and Luminance. The sliders correspond to primary adjustments of Colour Temperature, Tone, Exposure, Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks, Clarity, and Vibrance. The buttons let me navigate my photos, undo/redo adjustments, zoom in/out in increments, select white-balance presets, attach ratings to images etc. This will speed up photo editing greatly. This image was edited with the controller! Once I get to the point where I don't have to think of what control does what, I can just focus on the image and make my adjustments with my left hand. This will replace a lot of clicking around with the mouse to various tabs and on-screen sliders. I noticed that while navigating through my images, as soon as I touch an editing control, it takes me directly to the editing mode on-screen. The fine-control and having my most used tools handy on one physical device is game changing. If I need more controls, I can simply add another controller. There are many on the market, starting for as low as $40 with a few controls. I've just added coloured dots for the dials and I'm in the process of makeing lables for the sliders and buttons. I'll post an image of the controller again when it's all finished.
