Hey guys , i would like to see here a Subscription option.

 

what a Subscription gives :

 

- Bigger private message storage - Up to 5000 or Unlimited (Depends on the subscribe type)

- Ability to change the username once per week or 2 weeks.

- Colored name (Depends on the subscribe type)

- Use a different fonts for your name .

- Username background (Depends on the subscribe type)

- Access to arcade games (a IPB Mod with flash games , highscore system and virtual prizes or what ever)

- Ability to expend the small image in 10px~30px (Depends on the subscribe type)

- Access to hidden sections (porn maybe xD ?)

- Possible to add more stuff

 

how it goes ? :

 

step 1 . you login at the website and go to "My Profile" .

step 2. you press the "Subscribes" menu.

step 3. you see all the Subscription types (Red/Blue/Green/More Storage for PMs/unlimited storage for PMs/ETC)

step 4. you select for how long you want it (1 Month/2Month/5Month/1 Year).

Step 5. you select if you wanna buy it you yourself or to send someone else (if someone else , then just fill the "receiver username in the box") .

step 6. select payment methood (Paypal,PaymentWall ?).

step 7. redirect to paypal/etc site.

step 8. complete the payment.

step 9. the Automated Paypal/ETC IPN (Instant Payment Notification) will do the rest.

step 10. Redirect back to the forums with a "Thanks message or something" .

 

User management :

 

for instance i bought a red subscribe for 1 year , and then i want to buy a shiny one for 1 year .

no problem , just go back to the website and hit "My Profile" .

there you can see current subscribes (how much time left,when you bought it and details about it).

and if you buy 1 more , it will let you select which one you want to activate.

 

 

what XI Team gets from that :

 

- Extra "income" for you great efforts .

- This system can be created easily! - i know lots of mods that do 70% of that.

- More Color to the forum .

always exceed the target level to keep the servers going.

(Lots of people give a little and the bills always get paid).

 

If a subscription system were imposed, it would deprive those unable to pay

of facilities they already enjoy and limit access to the web site.

 

XI is not a porn website and, personally, I would hate it to become one.

Beyond ethical considerations, there are legal ones even in the USA!

 

I don't understand the motivation for this suggestion, personally.

I agree with Deejaykeg and Deerhunter.

 

Ok such things have to be decided by the seniors.

 

But can you explain a stupid user (like me) why YOU want to see this? Imho the page is enough colored, my nick will be colored if i become a Member someday, maybe. If not it will stay grey. So what?

The PN Box is big enough if not there is a nice function: DELETE.

 

Some Arcade Games are already free to play here and so on

 

And i think that there are people who can not pay for such functions or even make a donation because they have not a safe Full of money and are happy they can survive from one month to the next.

Which can't get a credit card or even don't have a Paypal account (like me, on principle).

 

Such things can ruin communities.

 

Again this is MHO and would be admin's dicision, if they like your idea.

As most of the responses have been negative I do feel I should say it is a good idea.. just not for this community. I know of several communities that run off lots and lots and lots of people donating a few dollars and getting 'premium' perks like you have mentioned and in game permissions/features like reserved slots etc..

 

I for one when am in my TF2 phase get premium with a community as it is only a few dollars a month for a reserved slot and in game commands.

 

So yh.. good idea just not for us

Like said, the idea has merit but I don't like the idea of paying for a subscription here. As a member, I feel we should be equal here by our earned member status, not by our bought status.

or by you posts (each 50/100 posts , you get 1 point - and 1 month subscribe cost 20 points for that metter.

or lets say , 1 vote = 1 point.

or for that metter 1 point = 1$(just a random numbers of course for explaining purpose only) .

so people will actually constantly vote! , it's a win,win for everybody.

 

i still think it's a good idea , although it can be improved of course..

What would you do with the points or the virtual money? Reserved slots on the gameservers? Members still have priority access to the FT Servers f.e. Members are selected by the ADMs, and i think they know well which user they want to wear the tags or not.

 

I have no fu**** right to get priority access as long as i am a non-member. It's an advantage of the tags not of paying money or get paid for my actions. If i don't get them i have to think about why and work on my own.

 

I love this clan and the people around and enjoy the servers. I am thankful for all which are able to donate, spend time or do a lot of work to help keeping the servers up and running. I would donate too, but i am not able the moment.

 

A Community lives from what the users do and not what they pay or get paid for.
