The best solution, in my opinion, is to give the user 3 strikes and a ban. Notify and explain to them why they need to relax while playing.

The admins all agreed that I needed to be banned, it was overturned by a senior admin. 

I came from a competitive promod background the first time I played ftag, I was just being an asshole and showing off... but realized that it was unfair after talks with the admins.

So I changed the way I played, by taking the game less serious and just goofing around, creating challenges for myself, like if I could get the most defrost on the server and just having random fun with players.

first off members only should really have a say,,second if we are leaving our server to go play somewhere else what does that say about our server? third if said person that is way better then everyone else and is the problem and is a member,,I thnk that is diff,,,a member is a member,,take that to an admin only. Members are voted in with out members real knowledsge or consent(voting) so if someone is a known high end player the members had no input into them becoming a member and then its on the admins that voted them in. This is domething that i personally dont agree with,,members should have a say in voting for members to be. There is info that members may have about this person and it does not get related to the admins.

So you used ProMod configs,scripts and binds in other game mods? 

That is normally frowned apon by gaming communities and will get you banned from alot of servers. PROMOD is a completely different COD Mod.  Most PROMOD servers do not run PunkBuster because modding certain configs related to textures would get you banned by PunkBuster.  

IMO the Promod scripts and configs and binds should not be used in any mod BUT PROMOD. 

 

When I started playing cod4 I monkeyed around with ProMod for a while and I ran a heavily modded config. I got banned from a couple servers by admins. I was banned from 2 Gun Game Mod servers and OFC (OldFartsClan) Freezetag server.  I deleted the damn config and ended up joining [G13] clan. I played on there servers and XI's servers until [G13] died shortly after COD Black Ops came out. Rest is History

 

 

My configs are all stock except for the following.

/snaps 30  

/cl_maxpackets 100

/com_maxfps 250

/cg_fov 80   Which I change to /cg_fov 65 when I snipe because it acts like an additional zoom when looking through a scope. I don't snipe very often though so it normally stays at 80.

 

My computer is getting a bit old and the most expensive part was the Case but it works good for COD and I can definitely fuck shit up on alot of maps. Some maps I just suck at even after years of playing them and I'm OK with that. lol  I play for fun. When I'm not having fun I leave. No sense playing any games if your not having fun. Which is a Huge testament to most of the members here at XI for keeping such an old game Fun to play after so many years.

No.

You don't need other configs, scripts or binds to be good ProMod player.

The only config changes I would use were,

/cg_fov 80

/cg_drawfps 1

/com_maxfps 125 --> My pc at the time sucked and couldn't reach a steady 250 fps

Really? No Quick Scope binds? Reload cancel binds? Rapid fire scripts? Fullbright config? or modded textures and you was a "good" Promod player?   Hmmmmmmm lol

Didn't really like scoping, I reload cancel by myself. Macros are for noobs. Most promod servers came with fullbright as an option.

You need modded textures to be a good player?

The last promod server I played on was a few days ago and the server allowed 333 fps  

So I do consider myself a "good" promod player.

An actual G13 former clan member is here? I thought maybe they were extinct. Codjumper is another one that provides configs that a lot of servers consider cheats. However they add this little disclaimer of sorts saying that their configs are intended to only be used on certain types of servers. Thats like giving you a lock pick with the understanding that it will only be used on your own doors.

It would seem to me that any changing/editing of files from the original form to gain and edge on a server is blatant cheating.  Unless all players on said server are using the same edited files I would consider it to be cheating.  A person came into the WAW servers and started clearing them out each time they came in.  Later that person listed all the config edits they used and still claimed it was not cheating.  Should there be a vote on allowing edited configs on some servers and not others?

I find it fascinating why these fuckers who mod everything still think they are 'great' players, no you are not, a blind man can see you have deliberately cheated. If you then get your rocks off by winning/getting high score it is not because of your skill - it is because you are cheating, full stop, sad fuckers, g13 cheaters nothing else.

I also gather by reading a post we were not supposed to read that a 'safe haven server has been created for when these world class players turn up. If so then this post is useless as the decision to allow them to stay has already been made? If this is true then not many of us regulars will be left playing on our own servers - marvellous.

In fact as custom maps 2 is now obviously for professional non members I would suggest we all move to 1. But what do we do when they follow us ?? answers on a postcard please
