  9. Hello no. There is very very little strength in a board that's turned sideways. That bottom board is the Seal plate. A seal plate is usually Pined or bolted to the foundation and the Joists are nailed to the seal plate. There needs to be some sort of Header installed since it is definitely load bearing. And a Reinforced Concrete Lintel will not be enough to hold that kind of load. 3 2x10s glued and screwed or glued and nailed together and 6" to 8" (or more if you want) wider than the opening. Use 3 2x10s minimal. Use 3x12s if you have room to get them in. That's ALOT of weight up there. An average sized fireplace and chimney can easily weigh 5 ton+ and that's just for the Brick work. Here this will help you Alot. Skip down to where it says Step 1. It's a bit of work but it will save your fireplace and chimney from crashing through the floor. Looks like you have some water staining on the joists. I would call someone in and have them inspect the brickwork after you jack up the floor and install the header. Brickwork can be resealed if they are not to bad. https://www.oneprojectcloser.com/how-to-replace-a-load-bearing-door-header/ I was a licensed and insured contractor before I got hurt. Me and my 5 man crew did the Framing, roofing, plumbing, electric and kitchen installs. My boss and his small 3 man group were the Masons. They did the foundations and concrete and stone work and driveways and sidewalks. Then we had a 6 man Finishing crew that did all of the pretty stuff like insulation, drywall, flooring, paint, trim and siding. We contracted out the HVAC stuff for insurance purposes.

  15. You lucky lucky people over there, don't let the do gooders stop your rights, kick political correctness into touch - keep shooting. Looks a great weapon I had a Ruger rimfire many years ago, loved it, they make great guns, as usual I'm jealous.

    Gettysburg

Recently, I've heard several players mention that they want to visit Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA. If you have never been to Gettysburg -- or haven't visited in many years -- I highly recommend that you go. Fortunately, I live close by and frequently visit. Whether you make a day trip or a weekend out of it, there are plenty of places to stay, shops, restaurants, etc. I have some personal tips to offer, for what it's worth: - Try to schedule your trip in the spring or fall when the weather is warm. Gettysburg is packed with tourists during the summer months, and it's not very fun being out on the battlefield in 90 degree heat. - I highly recommend going to the "new" Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center. The museum has a large display of Civil War relics. I also recommend you watch the film A New Birth of Freedom in their theater, then move on to see the cyclorama. - Don't pay for a guided tour. It's really unnecessary as the signage and monuments are fairly self-explanatory. From time-to-time, you will come across a guided tour in progress and you can eavesdrop on the guide's lecture. - When you self-guide your way through the battlefields ... drive. You can stop, park and walk throughout the entire area. It's way too big to walk. - Visit the National Cemetery. Walk among the graves of the KIA and read their headstones. It makes you think. - Check out the shops and restaurants along Steinwehr Ave and around the downtown circle. You'll find a place that you'll enjoy. Trust me. - Finally, (if you have the time) a fairly short drive into southern Washington County, Maryland, will take you to Antietam Battlefield. For you military history buffs, along the way you can pass by and see Site R (PA Route 16), old Fort Ritchie and Site C above (MacAfee Hill Rd, Cascade, MD), Camp David (Park Central Rd Catoctin Mountain Park), and wind your way further south through Sharpsburg and onto Antietam. Just some friendly tips. Enjoy your trip! https://www.nps.gov/gett/index.htm

The Licensed Guided Double Decker Tour is absolutely epic. We were on the top floor which has no roof. Just make 100% sure that it is not going to rain and bring plenty of Sun Block. Save up a few bucks and do it. It will be the most memorable thing you do for a long time. http://www.gettysburgbattlefieldtours.com/gettysburg-tours/gettysburg-tours/licensed-guided-double-decker-tour/ Last time I did the tour I was 14 years old and went with the whole family including my Grandpa and Grandma. I still remember most of that trip like it was yesterday and that was 32 years ago. It takes 3-4 days to see everything so plan on staying for the week. You will not regret it. There are wooded camp grounds all over the place about 5 miles south of Gettysburg. Perfect for a motor home or travel trailer or even a large tent. If I go again I'll be camping out in a tent and I'll be bringing my scooter. A bit to much to walk everywhere and traffic can be ridicules especially around the 4th of July up untill Oktoberfest. lol THIS might be fun if ya have a place to pass out. Gettysburg

Little Round Top. Colonel Chamberlain, Captain Spear, Captain Morrill. Strong Vincent; Colonel Patrick O'rorke. Many people didn't get the credit they deserved. A lot of shit went down leading up to and during that crucial bayonet charge of a critical battle of Gettysburg. Chamberlain himself was gonna have his face blown off, but the pistol misfired. The left flank of the 20th's charge was almost repelled, but for a surprise volley in the ass of the Confederates by Captain Morrill's Company B; Color Sergeant Tozier standing firm as a rallying point while under heavy fire; The presence of the 2nd Maine's seasoned mutineers dispersed among the 20th's ranks; Stoughton's sharpshooters; You could read for days on that charge, Little Round Top, Gettysburg and the events, decisions leading up to & influencing them.

Agreed, we have loads of restrictions on firearms, even on airguns, but bad people miraculously still shoot people here with illegal weapons. Basically in our nanny socialist utopia the baddies have guns and the goodies have none, can't see a happy ending there. However my longbow is primed and ready and my 4" bladed knife (max by law to carry) strikes fear into burglars. Not much point in jailing them either, a life sentence is around 8 years served, but steal money from the rich and you are in for life. The stupid thing is that illegal firearms are plentiful now with no European wide customs controls, I was offered one in a pub in Manchester 4 years ago for £150, and that was in a nice pub whilst chatting over a sandwich, so the wrong people have them readily at hand. The terrorist situation is very very real, the people assigned to protect the public aren't armed so effectively there is no protection for ordinary people. We are very proud of our police not being armed, but in bad situations, which are getting common, they are ineffective. So fight to retain your rights, once gone they never return, enjoy your shooting, it's a great sport. I agree about the stock being nice, some of the modern stocks are fantastic, but none to me look like walnut, which I personally associate with classy weapons. Also I would not choose stainless for various reasons, nor polymer which is coming in rapidly, blueing the barrel and lightly oiling is part of bonding with your gun, as with stripdown and cleaning. I'll bet Last Cold Beer agrees with this.

  31. Been shooting the same Ruger 10/22 standard since I was 18. Cleaning it with stiff brass cleaning brushes and GI bore clean solution, and the rifling still looks like new. I like the pull throughs, but if mine can survive 37 years of use, feel confident yours will too.
