I think it`s time! XI fest 2018... We need a location! Let`s use this topic to come up with some good suggestions. Keep in mind that; - It has to be affordable - There defo has to be something to do (Berlin was great for that with all the historical stuff. It nicely kept the group together) - It needs to be a location that has an Airport/trainstation nearby Seccondly we need a time. Last year was July. Berlin did well in that regard. We briefly discussed Scotland while we were in Berlin. It’s not yet going to require visas for us mainland Europeans, though it might be as expensive as Amsterdam. Latvia and Prague both sound cool, though I have been to Prague already and wasn’t that bowled over by it. Prague is driving distance from me which is a definite plus so so far I like all suggestions
 Awards

Nightlife After you’ve done your sleep for the day, you’ll of course need some relaxation. Whether you’re looking for a quiet night at the cinema with your friends or a night of drinking away your exam stress, Groningen’s diverse nightlife can offer relief. Unlike in other cities, the bars have no closing hours, so the party doesn’t end until you leave. The city center is the place to be, with the Grote Markt and Poelestraat as a focal point. With dozens of bars, often with live music, clubs, casinos and even cinemas located within a few blocks, you don’t even have to bring your bike and can walk off your buzz, or take the first bus to the hotel after you’ve had breakfast at one of the many kebab places or other night restaurants. As Groningen is a student city, you can find entertainment for all prices; student discounts are even applied in bars, which means that drinks are cheap and there is no cover fee. At ESN’s International Student Night, beer and soft drinks are only 1 euro, and there are many other places (see “hotspots”) where you’ll find comparable prices. But even if you want to have an early night to get back to the UB first thing in the morning, you can consider a wide range of options, from theatre to concerts to film. The city’s festivals are the culmination of all these year-round cultural vibes, and show why Groningen is the best place to go out. You’ll quickly understand why it is that even people from outside the province flock to Groningen for a good night out. Check out this video, which is part of the International Student Guide to Groningen, and is about Groningens' nightlife. Or this one, which is about all the cultural stuff in Groningen! Which city is less worrying provided we get a lot of others coming. I liked Prague two decades ago, maybe it's still fun today. Brussels is OK too, good food certainly. We do want something to do other than pubs - Not everyone is content to roll into a pub at 11 AM; some walkies, bus tours or balloon rides are deffo welcome. Prague and Brussels should be fine in that regard, as would I'm sure Budapest and Riga. Truro... not so much. Nor for that matter a few of the other tiny little shitholes towns mentioned. Let's do try and keep it to a place with like, an airport, a train station and a lot of choice in things to do. Better still Cork in Eire, flights can be reasonable if booked in advance. If it's one of the best nights out in the world (official) with loads to do try Newcastle upon Tyne, loads of night life, great communication links, loads of restaurants, loads of shops, ferry from Holland, flights everywhere and nearby seafront, i.e. something for all.
