Just an update on some things going on with >XI<

1. We now have 2 servers Insurgency Sandstorm and the Insurgency admin team is doing a great job already on getting the servers populated. Find the
details for the servers on our gametracker server list on the front page. 

2. Battlefield V has just been released and we have a large group playing together in Teamspeak so if you wanna join in you can find the Teamspeak
server details on the gametracker server list on the front page. The password to get into it is crappy

3. We are having a memorial event for a member that passed away that played in the COD4 Ace mod server his name was Male, the event will be held on

4. Our current dedicated server that is hosting all our gameservers is getting to its max. So we have 2 options, #1 we rent another dedicated server
which will increase our monthly donation goal by about $130, #2 we start getting rid of some old servers that are either not being used or not being
used enough to justify keeping them running. I wanna try option #2 first, I already shut down some old COD4 servers that are not being used anymore
along with an Insurgency server that wasn't getting populated. I am also shutting down the COD4 ROTU Zombie server, this server constantly has 50
zombies connected to it and it's using CPU that we need for other servers that are more popular. We will see if this changes any of the issues we are
having with lag on the servers for the next couple months. If it doesn't help we will have to look at getting another dedicated server, but that
means we will need more monthly donations. 

5. There has been some compliants lately about there being a lack of admin coverage for the servers during certain parts of the day. I have worked
with the Head Admin teams for each game and we have some changes that I hope will help with the admin coverage on the servers.

I think we need at least one more admin or two, on COD5 late nights and nights (both NAM and DM2). I used to be able to move people or skip a map after a vote on the NAM server, but not anymore, and last Friday evening we needed one. Also, when I play on the DM server late nights, there's very rarely an admin at that time, but often some players causing problems.

I agree with Athena and also I think we should look for an Admin for the afternoon sift on the VNF. I think you should reinstate Athena and Snoop as they were doing a wonderful job.

what about upgrading the current dedicated server ? is that an option ? It may be cheaper than running 2 servers

Thanks for the efforts @Ruggerxi. Too bad the zombie server is shutting down. Would go in there from time to time hoping any of my XI friends would joine me. Unfortunately, the resemblance with real life is too big and even here I didn't have friends to play  Was fun playing it with a decent group!

COD 5 zombie server doesn't have very much activity either you might think about dropping that one as well.

Not sure on evening time in the USA but there are times early evening UK time the VFT cod 5 server is empty....... could use some new players. If you watch at approx 20:30 hrs it empties

Connected a few times now at 21:00 hrs UK time and not a soul in.......

Something must be wrong then Morris, there are serveral of us in there playing and have been for a while.

not between 20:30 and 22:00 GMT its empty, been this was for about a year now, we have several regulars from Europe play between 18:30 and 20:30 but as soon as half 8 comes it empties

The afternoons are picking up again, like Blackcat says and we're getting some new blood too...I play more afternoons for an hour or two with them more often than not. Besides, I'm not thinking the Ftag server is on the chopping block.

Which insurgency server are we shutting down. last time I checked all three were running pretty much full all the time. I could be wrong. Might want to check with Barron.

The Day of Infamy server got shut down, Rugger must have confused it for Insurgency due to the gametracker page.

Fantastic post! 

My Admin support has diminished lately, we have been swamped with Home Depot service tickets. Keeping us busy different hours during the course of each week. 

This week I will be traveling but will be able to pop in. Plus! anytime I’m on the DM2 server for a few hours I get bashed... lol with all the cry babies because I kill them. Also kick them for breaking server rules. MAKES ME WANT TO PLAY SO MUCH MORE!

Server wise, I think it's time to start closing the servers we don't use anymore. The flash in the pan ones. We say all this awesome ideas, they get put into action, people play them for a week and then that's it. We're used to and are comfortable with the modes we are so familiar with.

So for CoD4 I am thinking the BO2 FT, Ace Mod SLOW and both zombie ones should go. I don't play on the WaW servers enough to warrant a decent input but maybe the Modern Weapons, Insane Zombies and low gravity ace mod server. BF4 one can go too. You need to argue that is one or two players every now and then really a viable reason to keep the server up and running when the others are the only ones getting played? You need to focus on where your players are. CoD4 has always been FT and Ace Mod, CoD2 has always been DM, TDM and our CTF server (which is pretty much Loader and I's playground when working on things )

E3-1270v3:A Haswell-based machine with plenty of RAM and an SSD in addition to a regular drive

Intel Xeon E3-1270v3 processor (four physical 3.5ghz cores on QPI + hyperthreading + turbo->3.9ghz)

32 GB DDR3-1600 ECC memory

240 GB SSD and 2000 GB, 7200 RPM SATA hard drive

36000 GB of bandwidth transfer

E3-1275v6:The latest from Intel: Kaby Lake, with maximum memory, a large SSD, and Intel P630 graphics

Intel Xeon E3-1275v6 processor (four physical 3.8ghz cores on QPI + hyperthreading + turbo->4.2ghz)

1000 GB SSD

40000 GB of bandwidth transfer

 

This upgrade will cost $40 more a month, but its a 300mhz processor speed bump and 3 generations newer and 32gb more of memory which isn't an issue right now. 

IP's for all the servers will stay the same and there will be very minimal downtime.

I am not sure about your storage needs but don't make the mistake we did. a few bucks more a month and they offered us a local 1tb hard drive. if you need the room for backups its best to do it up front. we spend a lot of time shuffling files around as we filled the ssd up a few times and it crashed out on us...

just a tip from lessons learned  xD

Sounds future proof for up in coming games if we can host them. Could just turn out to be a great decision!
