I ran a very popular server at one point when cod 4 first came out. I picked 6 admins for different times of the day or night. All time zones were taken care of. Hell I even picked admins from other clans. One XI member is one of the admins on my server. All of them had full admin status.

I picked the admins by their characters. I looked for calm, level headed peeps that would not lose control and just ban people for stupid reasons.  Over the last 18 years of gaming I have only had to get rid of one admin. That is one of the easiest things to do. My admins ranged from 13 yrs of age to 50. Pretty impressive that a 13 year old can keep it together like that (one of my best admins ever).

Map picks were usually made by the regulars of the server. Changed every 3 or 4 months.

When the server was full no one ever got kicked. The peeps just had to wait for someone to leave. They were all on my ts and we all had a great time everyday. I had a bunch of private slots for members.

That's all well and good but imagine multiple servers with multiple mods - not just the one, hundreds of different players in and out all the time, map rotations, mod fixes and updates, keeping an eye on everyone so that things stay civil and run smoothly, over 600 members in the community alone, a handful of people with very busy and real lives having to manage a raving bunch of idiots. Not everyone has the free time to come and sort the servers out constantly and I have nothing but respect for the admins that do this all for us.

There's way more to it than bans and map packs. it's about keeping this can of idiots under control I've had a peek into how the admin stuff works here, there's a lot going on behind the scenes not viewable to the public eye and forums. Yes I totally get what you are saying and I respect and understand what you've said but that's a very different kettle of fish, in some way.

The whole purpose of this thread was to make some sort of awareness that it'll be great to have someone around in the morning to help make sure things run as they should. Most of our admins have very busy personal lives so can't always be around.

Yes I can imagine multiple servers and mods, hundreds of gamers (been there, done that) but that is up to the team of mods to take care of all the server stuff. Admins deal with the gamers in the servers and the clan members can be dealt with by the leaders.

I get that. I am a leader of my clan so I understand certain private sections that are kept from regular members. Admins, mods and leader sections that are not visible to everyone.  There are certain privileges given to certain members and I know it is not given lightly.

I get the fact that after time real life steps in and people get busy but there should always be admins available to watch the servers. There are 600 plus members in your clan, I believe there should be way more than a handful of admins. You have so many members that would be great in that role.

An example: League play. We were told the same thing about admins having a busy life. My response was, "why are you running a league if you can't have admins available for every match?" "Find more admins" The league died because the gamers got sick of all the bullshit. It was a good league but the dude who ran it head got too big and well gamers (I for one) called him on it, he got pissed, league gone.

I respect your opinion and every point you make is valid I wasn't aware you were the leader of your own clan - thought it was just admin, my mistake. Regardless, you've made valid points and a good argument.

There are 5 of us in total. I am the only active one at the moment. The other 4 had busy real life moments interfere with their gaming life LOL One is about to become a daddy and I am very excited about it. teehee

We all got life outside of gaming, so this is your issue, lets Admin job go and concentrate on that.

I'm usually on Late at night or very early in the morning. I wasn't on 3 days in a row this week. I've been busting my ass trying to get enough firewood in for the winter. Usually To tired to play but I do try to be on every day atleast for an hour or 2.

I play strange hrs anymore ... I've seen MOST of the  admin team but yes early morning is VOID of adms anymore 4 the most part but I've only seen 1 problem child so far

My game installation was corrupted, would crash 4/5 times on launch. At the same time my work picked up immensely 10-15 hr days. I have been off COD 4 since the weekend of October 27th. Honestly to me it feels like that was a few days ago. 

My normal gaming hours were when the US crowd would go to bed and the Australians were waking up. I would normally help populate the server at the time 11:00pm PST-2:00amPST. I would see you online mostly only on the weekends. Jester has similar hours, we would mostly be online together.

I hunt them with an air rifle instead of a standard firearm so they don't scare off; much quieter.  Daisy PowerLine 880 with a ~$30.00 scope & .177 caliber pellets.  Very accurate & efficient; shoots pellets @ ~600 - 700 fps.  Great gun for the price.   https://www.daisy.com/product/PowerLine-Model-880/?itemnumber=990880-001  ***Edit***  If you use one, I highly recommend that you use pellets exclusively as the steel bb's can fuck-up the rifling & greatly decrease the accuracy of the rifle.  The pellets also grip the rifling, imparting a spin just like a standard firearm & shoot very accurately.

Yea because our nanny state bans firearms we have developed great air rifles in Europe, especially UK and Germany. Best hunting weapons ever for small game, no noise like rifles and shotguns, pre_charged ones are deadly and if you keep pellet below the speed of sound no one within hearing knows you are there. You can get air weapons with high power but you need a licence for them.

No joy on my end. I passed up a ten pointer and two eight pointers - all 1 1/2 year olds.  I had a shooter in the scope on the 2nd to last day but couldn't get him to step into a clear enough spot to pull the trigger.  Oh well.  Weather sucked most of the hunt - just glad I got to see some horns.  I'll concentrate on filling my freezer with my bow here in MA for the next ten days.
