If you had to travel the distances you do in USA and Aussie paying UK fuel prices you'd be broke, but a major part of our prices are tax. On the downside you generally have huge engines with auto boxes and poor efficiency. It will hit us petrol heads hard when petrol and diesel are phased out by law, so enjoy it now, electric (or whatever) are not so exciting, at least to me. Petrol is like whisky, made here but cheaper to buy abroad, we mortals never saw any benefits fron North Sea oil. Some areas in country near here are charging £1.43 a litre 2.04 US a litre, don't moan2 points

That final push... Tax season is about over
TheLastColdBeer reacted to MikeB for a topic
Beers !!!! Claiming yourself on your W4 is not a good thing. Plus there is no "Head of Household" on the W4 So if you are single or even married for that fact, with no kids you claim, then be sure to file "Single 0". Especially with the new tax code in play. While the average tax brackets have dropped 2 to 2.4%, the payroll tax withheld (be it W2 wages or pension") have dropped too. Meaning they will be taking less taxes out each pay period. If you or anyone have any related questions PM me, I would be happy to help and get you squared away for next year.1 point -

TheLastColdBeer reacted to Zagor for a topic
You are right LCBeer. Ermey belonged to the US Navy even in the 1960s. Director Francis Ford Coppola hired him as a consultant for his war movie 'Apocalypse Now' (1979) and gave him a role as a helicopter pilot. The military instructor then starred in dozens of productions, including the films 'Mississippi Burning', 'Switchback - Merciless Flight' and 'Michael Bay's Texas Chainsaw Massacre.' In the Pixar animation 'Toy Story' he gave his voice to the leader of the toy soldiers.1 point -

That final push... Tax season is about over
YACCster reacted to WldPenguin for a topic
Technically, the 15th falling on a weekend only gives us one extra day. The second extra day is because DC celebrates Emancipation Day on the 16th. Since the IRS is closed on the 16th, you're not obligated to pay your taxes until the next business day, which is why we have until the 17th. Ugh! But I really need them now, since tonight's incessant rain is currently flooding my tax office1 point -

What makes America great--in my opinion, and in my opinion only--is that we are indeed the "melting pot" for the world. "Give me your tired, your poor, your wretches, etc. (or something like that. Lol. We got @TBB--ONE TOO MANY WRETCHES!!!)." Our soldiers fight hard for this beloved country of ours. Soldiers from all denominations and skin color. They're happy to be here, and have proven to risk their lives for it. I tried to join the United States Marine Corps right outta high school to serve my country, but my perforated eardrum got me (got me?) disqualified. The Japanese and Nazis (notice I didn't say "Germans;" it was the frickin' psycho-Nazis that started the crap, and Hitler was Austrian, not German) didn't have a chance once the Great U. S. of A. got involved. Our sheer industrial might and brave fighting souls won the day, along with our never-say-die Brit, Canadian, and Australian allies. Some idiot once said here that the Russians coulda beat the Nazis by themselves. Without America's help, our staunchest allies--the Brits--would been starved and bombed into submission. America lost tens of thousands of lives trying to ship food and materials ("materieles," if you're French-Canadian) to the United Kingdom. I truly believe that the gutsy Brits--who twice tried to take us back, but we love them anyway--wouldn't have surrendered, either. What's cool, now, is that the Brits are always the first to "have America's back," and vice-versa. We love you, man!!! We stopped making cars and other durable goods to crank out tanks, bombers, fighter-planes, and soldiers to combat evil. With Britain bombing Germany by night, and the Americans bombing by day, the Nazis couldn't spare the air defense ("Defence" if you're Brit or Aussie) resources that they direly needed on the Russian front. The Russians enjoyed air superiority on Germany's "Eastern Front" because all of the Messerschmidt ME-109's, Focke-Wulfe 190's, ME-262 "Swallows," Arrado 234's, Heinkel 188's, etc. (might have numbers wrong--who cares, as long as you get the point?) were busy defending against the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses, Boeing B-24 Liberators, Avro Lancasters, North American P-51 Mustangs, P-47 Thunderbolts, DeHavilland Mosquitos, etc. "Enter" key doesn't work, anymore (just now), so I can't add spacing, so gotta stop educational diatribe here. Just for kicks, been experimenting making bow tie antennas. 26 channels pulled in from Peoria and Quad cities. I'm a confirmed cable cutter!1 point -

OMG you were so much of an influence I bought another cruiser, a Triumph and I hate it, the riding position is very uncomfortable and it don't go round corners , it's already on Ebay, shame it's a lovely bike, note the twin discs which actually stop you Indian! Also a picture of the Sunday Special' very pampered,1 point

Hey now, I don't take too kindly to people making fun of my ricer!! I actually find the apes very comfortable and they're only 14". The angle of the shots make them look bigger. I'd much rather have my HD copy than pay for the HD name. One, I paid about 5K less and two, she beats every HD I've lined up with so far . Plus who wants to chop up a HD, I didn't feel so bad doing it to the Honda. And she definitely turns heads. It is a shame for Victory, but I'm with you. Not a fan of their styles. There are also many things frowned upon with my bike. The FU tail light, no baffles, and no front fender. I've been pulled over already, but I guess my pretty smile has gotten me out of tickets....1 point

LOL, well I'm not one to bitch about any bike really. If it has an engine I want to ride it! I've had a few others including a rocket, they are all fun. As for the work, the Shadow was mine. After 45k in miles, it was popping out of gear under accel, so instead of trying to fix it I replaced the whole engine/transmission with a much lower mileage one. At that point I chopped it up, lowered it, and made it "her" bike. And that is how I got my Harley, lol Here is a before and after shot.1 point
