good luck finding a server with  people who have the same ping as yours hammer.   maybe us euro folks should have a XI  MW2 server hosted in europe?  then you dont have  to be bothered with the high pings.

Atleast the hit boxes don't change shape or size when you bunny hop like they do in COD4. The high ping players will always have an advantage when it come to hit registration. Most games tend to over compensate for latency.

Think of it this way. The smaller the ping the smaller the bullets and hit boxes especially at close range. The higher the ping the larger the bullets and hit boxes become especially at close range.

 

Close range combat on the MW2 freezetag server IS ALL FUCKED UP! Especially the SMG class guns such as the P90.  I've literally shot FULL Clips from the P90 with double tap into the Face of an enemy from 5 feet away and Missed every bullet.

Seems to me I heard  something years ago about fps games. The claim was that 100 ping or close either way is the sweet spot for avoiding damage and causing damage. Maybe I should start a nice fat juicy download and go play for a bit  Back when I played Unreal Tournament I remember a mod called zero ping which helped the high pingers almost to a fault. We ended up removing from server...... Online play will always be what it will be.

Ya I remember that @Zappy My old clan had that setup on 1 of our UT sniper only servers for a bit. But the longer you played the more lag you encountered. Only fix for that was to setup auto restarts every 4 hours or so. Our old server ran on a P4 3.06ghz Prescott 2gb memory and a 120gb raid array which was pretty high end at the time for a game server. We had a bunch of UK folk that always complained about there pings.

Also have to remember that in the mw2 server players are running slightly faster than the default speeds. And that the default jumping setting is shut off. Both make it harder to get kills than it otherwise would be. People want it that way, so it is what it is.

Oh and keep in mind that the saritch is overpowered due to a significant error on my part that I didnt know about until not too long ago. Set some things to their defaults (the old 'way it was meant to be played' argument used for marty etc), a properly balanced saritch, and I wonder what would happen. By nature, any change means some will get more kills and some will get fewer. And of course those that get fewer will complain like little bitches.
