CoD4 - Console Commands

Okay, over the past few days over seen players in server talking about changing max packets to 100. And joking about players changing it to 15 to lag out. All mine stuff is set to default. I think I tried max fps years ago. I've sense reformatted sense then, a few times.  How much of a difference does it actually make? And witch ones are recommended for smoother game play?

  The commands below made me better in game and helped me had a better view of everything, you should give those a try!

  com_maxfps 125  

  This is REALLY important cuz the higher the fps is, the more smoother it is in game, but just beware that even this setting can go up to 1000, however, it also depends on how good your computer is, so be careful with it.

  cg_fov 80

  Field of view (fov) is basicily how wide you see. The higher it is, the wider you will see. It is a huge advantage for people didn't use this. However, this will make everything, your enemy, bombs, and other stuff look smaller. So still, careful with it.The defult was 60 and the max is 80, it's up to you really.

  r_drawdecals 1

  1 is on, 0 is off. It will clean up the random trashes, papers, ashes and those stuff in the map, it will bring you a fps boost! However, some servers want you have bad fps so it will be turned off when you enter those servers.

  maxpackets 100

  This is for people who have good fps but bad hit registrations. Defult is 30, and you should increase it to 100 if your fps is 125.

  snaps 30

  This command tells the game how many time it update the position of a player, bullets, ect per sec. Defult is 20, 30 will make game smoother.

  r_drawsun 0

  Turn off those stupid effects to save few fps for you. 1 is on, 0 is off.

  cg_brass 0

  Turn off shell ejection. Not have to render them would save you a few fps. 1 is on, 0 is off.

try changing stuff to see how your game runs I do . if you notice your bullits go right thru other players no hits they seem to bounce right thru all bullits .  they are changing there network setting so I try to compensate I would put my packets on 5 if I could

these 2 are the only 2 i have changed in my mp_cfg    max fps set to 250  our server is set too 125   but on 125 my game jitters  a lot  the gtx1080 does not like that setting 125.

the max packets thing   i set it too 100  it makes my  ping 20 clicks lower  it goes from 100  to  80  so  from a guy playing from europe who goes in 6 hops to the server   this is nice.

als my cfg is set to read only  some servers like to overwrite your cfg  some mods do that also  to prevent that set your cfg to read only.

 

and for setting  your packets  to 5?  why hammer  must  a grown man like you  with  a ping of the low 30 have to set your  packets too 5?  are you not enjoying the game  anymore that your solution is to make yourself  a lagging target ?  and to be honest  also a little foolish.  setting it too 100 would be better for you

Yes unfortunately some people bind the dvar to two different keys. Normal and ultra low.  If you see someone running smoothly, and then he suddenly starts warping around when being shot at, then he clicked the 'low' button and ran away. I once saw one semi-regular, who shall remain nameless, moving around perfectly fluid and then I took one shot at him from close range. Because I suck as a player I missed. But he warped away with his lag bind like a little bitch.

You can usually spot this kind of thing and often it tends to be by the same players over and over during a round. If its a populated server with only a few people doing it, its annoying but doesnt take away from the fun. But when half the server, or more, is doing it I dont even bother and go elsewhere.

So, we have a whole bunch of players messing with settings, which can ONLY be to give them an edge?? exactly the same as wallhacks etc, they should all be banned, Sammy opened my eyes, a cheat is a cheat

250 is max

keep in mind your not getting to the server any faster and your not going to get any info from the server any faster. The server feeds everybody at the same speed.  all your doing is boosting what the server gives you. And your video card is only adding or deleting what it gets  from the server.

What does this mean? 

Does this include console settings as for what is being discussed in this post? If so, witch ones are approved. If any.

Known console changes maxpackets, maxfps, fov those are common changes and are not frowned upon

Reenabling PB had been discussed several times. However it does nothing about any hacks that came around after support for it was dropped. Really it would only be good for monitoring old hacks (which are still around) or out of range dvar changes.  There are other known console changes which are frowned upon such as level of detail removing foliage. Which is why hiding in grass for example is not advisable.

Oh, yeah. I was never interested in any of that stuff. I was only directing the post toward fps and max packets type stuff. I'm not even interested in fov. I like the way my game is as it is. But If I can make it run smoother, that's a plus. But, disabling grass and such. I don't agree with that. Might as well take a way buildings while your at if that's the route your going.
